Lake Street Dive closes out the current leg of sold-out shows in support of its Nonesuch debut album, Side Pony, with performances at the Beacon Theatre in New York City tonight, and the State Theatre in Portland, Maine, tomorrow night. The next leg of the tour kicks off in two weeks, with the band heading to Europe for the month of April. The US dates resume in May and continue through the spring, summer, and fall, currently culminating in a return to New York for a performance at Radio City Music Hall in October.
Lake Street Dive recently stopped by New York radio station Q104.3 to talk with host Jonathan ‘JC’ Clarke about Side Pony and perform the album track “I Don’t Care About You.” You can watch the session at q1043.com. Singer Rachael Price spoke with the Washington Post in advance of the band’s two consecutive sold-out shows at the 9:30 Club in DC; you can read what she had to say at washingtonpost.com.
Just days after Lake Street Dive’s performance at the Beacon Theatre, label mate Natalie Merchant returns to the venue for the culmination of her own Paradise Is There tour on Monday. The sold-out show follows another sold-out show at the Beacon earlier this month.

Composer Louis Andriessen's monumental work De Materie continues its North American stage premiere, which began earlier this week and runs through March 30, with performances at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City on Friday and Saturday. The production, directed by Heiner Goebbels, is performed by International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), led by conductor Peter Rundel, along with ChorWerk Ruhr.
Preceding each performance this weekend are ancillary events at the Armory: a conversation with composers Donnacha Dennehy, Julia Wolfe, and Nathan Michel moderated by WNYC’s John Schaefer about Andriessen’s impact on contemporary music, this evening; and an Artist Talk with Andriessen, Goebbels, Rundel, and Park Avenue Armory Artistic Director Pierre Audi on the creation of De Materie, led by dramaturg Cori Ellison, on Saturday.

Rhiannon Giddens concludes her week-long Australian tour with the second of two sets at the Byron Bay Bluesfest in New South Wales tonight. The Sydney Morning Herald, in a four-star review of Giddens’ performance outside Sydney earlier this week, described it as “brilliant American music without borders.”

Joshua Redman, currently touring Europe, performs as a special guest with the Reis Demuth Wiltgen Trio at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg on Saturday. Redman will finish out the month playing with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, before returning to the United States for a tour with The Bad Plus in April.

Rokia Traoré, paying the United States a brief visit in support of her new album, Né So, plays the Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in DC tonight, and the Trustees Theater in Savannah, Georgia, as part of the Savanna Music Festival, tomorrow.
"Rokia Traoré's voice soars in any language," exclaims the Washington Post. The Washington City Paper says: "A charismatic live performer, look for Traoré to charm with both delicate artistry and impressive octave climbing."
Earlier this week, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency announced the appointment of Traoré as a Regional Goodwill Ambassador for West and Central Africa. To mark her appointment, Traoré released a special video of the title track from Né So, which means “Home” in her native Bambara language. Learn more and watch the video here.
