The Magnetic Fields conclude the UK leg of the 50 Song Memoir concert tour in Brighton and London this weekend. The group performed the first program (songs 1–25) at Brighton Dome yesterday and completes the set with songs 26–50 there tonight. The stage extravaganza, directed by José Zayas, heads to Barbican Hall in London on Saturday and Sunday. Songwriter Stephin Merritt shares some sage words of advice on concert going and more with Clash ahead of the London shows; you can read what he had to say here.
The Times of London gives recent performances of 50 Song Memoir in Edinburgh four stars, calling it “a life affirming portrait of a life in song.” The band will give the exclusive Australian presentation of the show at the Melbourne Festival in October.

Devendra Banhart continues his tour of South America, featuring music from his latest album, Ape in Pink Marble, in Brazil, performing at Trapiche Barnabé in Salvador tonight and Music Hall in Belo Horizonte on Sunday.
Ape in Pink Marble was released last year on Nonesuch Records. Q magazine and the Times of London give it four stars, and Uncut calls it "excellent," praising Banhart as an “accomplished shaper of moods and atmosphere.”

Lake Street Dive concludes its extensive US summer tour with a performance at Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, Florida, tonight. The band’s free concert at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, as part of the Sing Out Loud Festival, has been cancelled due to Hurricane Irma.
The Aspen Times, reviewing the band’s performance last weekend, writes that “Lake Street Dive wowed the Jazz Aspen crowd with its throwback soul, '60s-style rock and singer Rachael Price's timeless, soaring vocals.”

k.d. lang continues the month-long Canadian leg of her Ingénue Redux Tour in the Maritimes: at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, tonight, and Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Saturday. She spoke with the Chronicle Herald ahead of Saturday’s show; you can read the interview here.
The concerts follow the recent release of the Ingénue: 25th Anniversary Edition double album on Nonesuch. "Ingénue still dazzles, 25 years later,” exclaims Uncut. “A modern classic … Perfectly pitched, in pretty much every way.”

Conor Oberst, with the Felice Brothers as his backing band, continues his Salutations tour with three shows in the Midwest this weekend: at Pabst Theater in Milwaukee tonight, The Vic Theatre in Chicago on Saturday, and the State Theatre in Kalamazoo on Sunday.
The Independent gives Salutations a perfect five stars, calling it "the best work of the singer’s career." The Evening Standard, reviewing a recent London show, praises Oberst’s “remarkably honest performance,” writing that he “remains as compelling a songwriter as he ever has been.”
