Chris Thile performs solo at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City on Saturday, not far from where Punch Brothers worked out the songs on their album Antifogmatic. Acoustic Guitar magazine calls the album "their Sgt. Pepper’s ... Draped in densely woven musical and thematic tapestries, this richly detailed album is filled with quirky, engaging, compelling, and dazzling music that will keep listeners coming back time after time to see what they hear next."

While Punch Brothers' next performance is slated for Labor Day weekend's moe.down festival in upstate New York, Chris Thile is set to perform a solo set at Rockwood Music Hall on New York's Lower East Side this Saturday night. That's not far from where the band held the "p-Bingo Nights" captured on the DVD in the deluxe edition of their latest Nonesuch release, Antifogmatic.

Acoustic Guitar magazine offers high praise indeed for Antifogmatic, when it says that Thile and his band mates "have created their Sgt. Pepper’s" on the new album. "Draped in densely woven musical and thematic tapestries," writes reviewer David McCarty, "this richly detailed album is filled with quirky, engaging, compelling, and dazzling music that will keep listeners coming back time after time to see what they hear next."

McCarty, after noting each band member's talents, recognizes the "rare skill and musicality" they exhibit as a band, coming together on Antifogmatic "to create a brilliantly cohesive ensemble sound that deftly follows the melody, no matter how it bucks and wheels."

Read the complete review at acguitar.com, and pick up a copy of the album on CD, vinyl, or in the deluxe two-CD-plus-DVD edition in the Nonesuch Store.

Thile recently spoke with Wine Spectator's Nathan Wesley, sharing a few of his favorite wine-inspired moments. "While its popular hit 'Rye Whiskey' is a nod to the resurging cocktail culture," Wesley writes, referencing the Antifogmatic track, "Thile is just as comfortable with a glass of wine in hand when the occasion calls for it." American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
