Pat Metheny Unity Group has announced a tour of Asia and Australia for this October, featuring music from its debut album, Kin (←→). The tour begins in Seoul, South Korea, on October 5, then heads to Japan for stops in Osaka, Nagoya, Kobe, and three nights in Tokyo; followed by Australia, with stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, and the Sydney Opera House; and comes to a close in Singapore on October 27. Metheny talks about the tour on ABC Jazz's Talking Jazz this Friday. The Unity Group is currently in the midst of a US tour with special guest Bruce Hornsby.

Pat Metheny Unity Group, featuring Chris Potter on sax and bass clarinet, Metheny's longtime collaborator Antonio Sanchez on drums, Ben Williams on bass, and multi-instrumentalist Giulio Carmassi, has announced a tour of Asia and Australia for this October, featuring music from its debut album, Kin (←→), released this past February on Nonesuch Records. The tour begins at the Sejong Center in Seoul, South Korea, on October 5, then heads to Japan for a three-night run at Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo and stops in Osaka, Nagoya, and Kobe. The Unity Group then has a four-city tour of Australia, with stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Canberra, culminatnig at the Sydney Opera House on October 24. From there, it's up to Singapore for a show at the Esplanade Concert Hall on October 27. 

In advance of the Australia tour, Pat Metheny will be a guest on ABC Jazz's Talking Jazz this Friday, August 1, at 2 PM. He speaks with ABC Jazz presenter Gerry Koster about the tour and the new album. Tune in then via abcjazz.net.au.

The Unity Group is currently in the midst of a US summer tour, performing at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan, tonight, before heading to the East Coast. The band is joined for most of the dates by special guest and platinum-selling artist Bruce Hornsby with Sonny Emory for what they've dubbed the Campfire Tour 2014.     Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet. Akinmusire says, “In many respects this entire work is inspired by and is an homage to the work of the composer Julius Eastman and his organic music concept." The opening track, “muffled screams,” is out now.

    Nonesuch releases a deluxe edition of Wilco’s 2004 Grammy Award–winning album A Ghost Is Born on February 7, 2025. The box set comprises either nine vinyl LPs and four CDs or nine CDs—including the original album, alternates, outtakes, and demos, charting the making of A Ghost Is Born—plus the complete 2004 concert recording from Boston’s Wang Center and the band’s “fundamentals” workshop sessions. It includes sixty-five previously unreleased music tracks as well as a forty-eight-page hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and a new liner note by Grammy-winning writer Bob Mehr. An alternate version of “Handshake Drugs,” recorded during the studio sessions at New York’s Sear Sound, twenty-one years ago this month, is out now. There will also be a new vinyl pressing of the original album in a two-disc package, and a two-CD expanded version of the original album with bonus track highlights from the full deluxe edition repertoire. The two-CD version will also be available on streaming services worldwide.
