For those of you who have yet to make plans to ring in the new year, Punch Brothers have announced a 2013 New Year's Eve Three-Night Extravaganza. The shows will take place at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, December 29–31. In addition to single show tickets, there are three-night passes available, which include a limited-edition silkscreen poster. A limited pre-sale is underway now at punchbrothers.com/presale.

Fans in New York City will also have a chance to catch Punch Brothers at the Gramercy Theatre on October 5, when the band will perform a short set and join The New Yorker's Alec Wilkinson for a Q&A, as part of the 2012 New Yorker Festival. For details, visit newyorker.com.

This coming Sunday, September 23, three members of the band—Noam Pikelny, Chris Eldridge, and Chris Thile—will be performing at The Bell House in Brooklyn as part of the Brooklyn Bluegrass Bash, emceed by Peter Sarsgaard. Thile will be joined by guitarist Michael Daves, with whom he released a duo album on Nonesuch in 2011 titled Sleep With One Eye Open. Pikelny and Eldridge will be joined by vocalist Aoife O'Donovan for their set.

And not to worry: for fans outside of New York, there will be plenty of opportunities ahead to see the full band perform live in the coming months, when Punch Brothers kick off the first leg of their North American fall tour next Thursday, September 27, at the Théâtre Corona in Montreal, followed by stops in Toronto, upstate New York, New England, the Midwest, and into the South. The second leg starts November 24 in Vancouver and will take the band down the West Coast and over to Minneapolis and Chicago. Tom Brosseau and The Milk Carton Kids will join the band for a number of these dates.

Punch Brothers will also head to Europe this autumn, starting with three stops in Germany in October with Nonesuch label mates Carolina Chocolate Drops: MTC Club in Cologne on the 22nd, Lido in Berlin on the 23rd, and Knust in Hamburg on the 24th. Punch Brothers will return to France for a concert at the Festival International Mandolines de Lunelon on November 3, followed by eight shows across the UK and the Crossing Border festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium.

See below for all of the currently scheduled tour dates. For additional details and ticket links, go to nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Earlier this year, during a tour stop at the Bonnaroo festival, the band spoke with CNN about what brought them together as a band, not as a traditional bluegrass band, but rather as part of a larger "brotherhood and sisterhood of creative musicians," as Chris Thile puts it, "people who gather all of their influences together and with all of those strands, they weave together something entirely new." American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
