A celebrated songwriter since the 1960s, Randy Newman began a career as a film composer in the early 1980s. His film include Ragtime, Leatherheads, and Meet the Parents; for Pixar, he scored Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Cars, and Toy Story 3. His film work has garnered 20 Oscar nominations and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song.
Newman's latest album is Live in London, released late last year on Nonesuch Records. While touring in support of his 2008 album Harps and Angels, Randy Newman performed a special concert at London’s intimate LSO St. Luke’s accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra led by Robert Ziegler. The program, featuring songs from throughout Newman’s career, was televised by the BBC and is available on the Live in London CD+DVD along with an interview from the BBC broadcast.
