Giddens just recently concluded a tour of Europe and the UK, which included a special set as part of BBC Radio 2's coverage from Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival. She also joined the Transatlantic Sessions musicians from both sides of the Atlantic on a week-long UK tour that included a sold-out show at London's Festival Hall, about which The Times's Clive Davis exclaimed in his five-star review: "Anyone who has heard Rhiannon Giddens—the singer who has just delivered one of the albums of the decade—will know that she is a very special talent."

In celebration of Black History Month, Rhiannon Giddens will lead several concerts in the US with cellist Leyla McCalla and singer-songwriter Bhi Bhiman titled Swimming in Dark Waters: Other Voices of the American Experience. The concerts begin at her alma mater, Oberlin Conservatory, on February 20. For details, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Donnacha Dennehy’s Land of Winter is out now. The piece, performed by the composer's longtime collaborators Alarm Will Sound and conductor Alan Pierson, explores the subtleties of Ireland’s seasons via twelve connected sections representing the months of the year. "It is the varying quality of light that truly demarcates the seasons," Dennehy says, "from the shorter days of grey or piercing light in the winter to the warmer but mercurial light of summer days that at solstice stretch almost to midnight. I like this play between light and time, and it is the major inspiration behind the piece." You can watch a video for “July" here.
