Rhiannon Giddens begins a tour of the UK and Ireland with music from her new album, Freedom Highway, at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London tonight. The tour continues with concerts in Bristol, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Pocklington, Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow, and Gateshead. She joins Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne in France in December.

Giddens was recently named a MacArthur Fellow for 2017 and was nominated for International Artist of the Year at the 2018 UK Americana Awards. Her new album, Freedom Highway, has just been nominated for Best New Album of 2017 in the fRoots critics poll. The Guardian calls it a “powerful and timely set,” and Uncut named the "remarkably wise and timely new album" its Album of the Month. Pitchfork exclaims: "Rhiannon Giddens emerges as a peerless and powerful voice in roots music."
