Robert Plant will launch a new podcast series, Digging Deep, next Monday, June 3. Hosted by music journalist Matt Everitt, it uncovers the moments, people, and places that have inspired some of his most treasured music. The series goes on a path that starts in the Midlands, leads to Led Zeppelin, and takes the listener around the world, discussing people and places that have inspired some of Plant's music.

"Everybody has got a back catalogue, and you do tend, as artists, to only deal in the very front end of it," says Plant. "But then, now and again, down the line, opening up some of the songs, and looking back at them, I marvel at some of it, and how nuts some of it is. For this podcast, I am going to be picking out some songs from here and there along the way mixing constant shifts in sound and intention from across this long old time. Since 1981, I've enjoyed many amazing, exciting musicians. Men and women who have encouraged and enlightened, introducing me to crazy curves I could never have imagined."

Digging Deep will be available from Apple, Spotify, and YouTube, with new episodes available every two weeks, from June 3 to the last week of August. Each episode will cover tracks personally selected by Robert and include tracks from Led Zeppelin, his solo career, and folk collaborations.

Robert Plant returns to the road with his band the Sensational Space Shifters, performing songs from his latest album, Carry Fire, and more this summer. The tour kicks off in Stockholm on June 13 and heads to North America in September. For details and tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

To pick up a copy of Carry Fire, head to your local record store, iTunes, Amazon, and the Nonesuch Store, and listen now on Spotify and Apple Music.

Congratulations to composer and pianist Timo Andres on receiving the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Elise L. Stoeger Prize—a $25,000 cash prize, awarded biennially by CMS to recognize significant contributions to the field of chamber music composition. Andres says: “I feel equally challenged and freed to take risks when I write chamber music, and writing it, I’ve learned the most about becoming a better composer and musician. To be recognized in this medium by one of its greatest institutional standard-bearers is a huge and unexpected honor.”

David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”
