Sara Watkins, whose new album, Sun Midnight Sun, was released earlier this month in North America and will be released worldwide on Monday, celebrates the occasion with a performance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Sun Midnight Sun, Watkins' second solo album, was released earlier this month on Nonesuch. Produced by Blake Mills, it features guest appearances by Jackson Browne, Fiona Apple, Sean Watkins, and more. The album includes songs like "You and Me" written by Watkins, several collaborations with Mills, songs by Dan Wilson and Willie Nelson, and a duet with Fiona Apple on The Everly Brothers classic “You’re the One I Love.” USA Today calls the album "flawless" and "a gorgeous pop masterpiece ... pure musical pleasure." The Wrap says "it might be the finest album of the year."

As noted yesterday in the Nonesuch Journal, Watkins joins Garrison Keillor and the cast of A Prairie Home Companion for two shows at Wolf Trap's Filene Center in Vienna, Virginia, this weekend, including a live broadcast performance on Saturday; also performing is Watkins' Nonesuch label mate Shawn Colvin.     The Black Keys have released a new song, “I’m With The Band,” written with and featuring Beck, from the upcoming Ohio Players (Trophy Edition). It's the third song from that expanded version of the band's latest album on which Beck sings and which he co-wrote with The Black Keys, including the original Ohio Players tracks “Paper Crown,” featuring Juicy J, and “Beautiful People (Stay High).” The Black Keys have added new tour dates at festival in Monterrey, Mexico, and Tempe, AZ, in early 2025.

    The original score for Ken Burns’s new two-part documentary, LEONARDO da VINCI, with new compositions by Caroline Shaw, is out now; the documentary airs on November 18 and 19 at 8pm ET on PBS. The album features performances by the composer’s longtime collaborators Attacca Quartet, Sō Percussion, and Roomful of Teeth as well as John Patitucci. Shaw wrote and recorded new music for LEONARDO da VINCI, marking the first time a Ken Burns film has featured an entirely original score. Also out today is a music video for the album track "The Mona Lisa," which can be seen here.
