When Ben Folds and Nick Hornby came to New York City last month to celebrate the release of their album, Lonely Avenue, they met up at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to discuss and perform a few songs off the album. It was the latest in the "Liner Notes" series from SPIN and raised $10,000 for Housing Works. You can now watch six exclusive videos from the evening at spin.com. Folds launches his fall tour this Friday in Chicago.

When Ben Folds and Nick Hornby came to New York City last month to celebrate the release of their new collaborative album, Lonely Avenue, on Nonesuch, they met up in the intimate space of the city's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to discuss the project and have Folds perform a few songs off the album. It was the latest in the "Liner Notes" series presented by SPIN magazine, which aims to explore the cross-pollination of music and literature while raising funds for Housing Works; the Folds/Hornby event raised $10,000 for the HIV/AIDS service organization. Lonely Avenue was recently featured on New York City news channel NY1. The station's man about town George Whipple was at the Housing Works event and spoke with both collaborators backstage about their partnership. You can watch the segment at ny1.com.

Ben Folds launches his fall US tour this Friday at The Riviera in Chicago, followed by stops in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, that last a benefit for and with the Nashville Symphony.     Composer/performer David Longstreth, whose new album with his band Dirty Projectors and the chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, Song of the Earth, is out April 4, stopped by for the Nonesuch Selects video series, in which artists visit the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorite albums from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. He chose recordings by David Byrne, Jonny Greenwood, Bulgarian State Television Female Choir, Caetano Veloso, Tyondai Braxton, Scritti Politti, and João Gilberto, and from the Nonesuch Explorer Series.
