The Staves' new album, If I Was, "is perhaps the most achingly beautiful album released this year," exclaims New York NPR member station WFUV, which has named it New Dig of the week. "If I Was is a heavenly blend of soft, billowy folk and grand anthems of yearning, desire and heartbreak ... Discovering toughness and tenderness concurrently on this handsome release, The Staves are bright stars illuminating the pop music landscape." The trio will be at Justin Vernon's Eaux Claires Festival this weekend.

The Staves' Nonesuch Records debut album, If I Was, "is perhaps the most achingly beautiful album released this year," exclaims New York NPR member station WFUV, which has named the album its New Dig of the week. "Discovering toughness and tenderness concurrently on this handsome release, The Staves are bright stars illuminating the pop music landscape," concludes WFUV's Darren DeVivo.

The trio of sisters from Watford, England, have "attracted attention thanks to their beautiful voices and exquisite harmonies," says DeVivo. And now, "The Staves have finally turned a big artistic corner with their second album, If I Was."

The album was produced by Justin Vernon, who "proved to be the perfect collaborator to guide this album," DeVivo writes. "If I Was is a heavenly blend of soft, billowy folk and grand anthems of yearning, desire and heartbreak."

Read more at wfuv.org and tune in to WFUV at 90.7 FM in New York City and online to hear music from the album all this week. The Staves recorded an in-studio session at WFUV earlier this year; you can watch and hear that also at wfuv.org.

To pick up a copy of If I Was in the US, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout.

The Staves will be in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where they recorded the album with Justin Vernon, for his Eaux Claires Festival this coming weekend. Also on the bill is Sam Amidon. Click here for details.
