Wilco was joined by Feist to sing "You and I" at Monday night's concert at KeySpan Park in Brooklyn and on Tuesday night's performance for the Late Show with David Letterman. Stereogum posts video of the latter and reports: "Jeff [Tweedy] and Feist enjoy a laid back but engaged rapport onstage that matches the dulcet mesh of their voices, one of those rare collaborative dynamics that enhances the song's meaning as much as it raises the song's profile." Billboard says of Monday's concert: "The sight was American rock 'n' roll at its finest, with one of the genre's most powerful live acts at the helm." WFUV's Rita Houston says: "Great show in a great setting on a beautiful night in Coney Island. Magic was all there."

Wilco was joined by Canadian songstress Leslie Feist both live and on TV this week, first at Monday night's concert at KeySpan Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York, and again on Tuesday night's performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. The group played "You and I," the album track off their latest Nonesuch release, Wilco (the album), on which Feist joins Jeff Tweedy on vocals. Stereogum has posted a video of the Late Show performance and reports: "Jeff and Feist enjoy a laid back but engaged rapport onstage that matches the dulcet mesh of their voices, one of those rare collaborative dynamics that enhances the song's meaning as much as it raises the song's profile. Dave enjoys the performance almost as much as he loves riffing on the camel party album art." Read more and watch the clip now at stereogum.com.

Reporting from Monday night's concert, Billboard's Jillian Mapes writes: "Wilco doesn't need special effects or a theatrical set for its live show. What other bands aim for with those high-budget concert accessories, this one offers in the stage charisma of its frontman, Jeff Tweedy."

What's more, with the oceanside setting and the venue the home of the minor-league Brooklyn Cyclones, it was something not soon forgotten. "The concert had all the makings of a great American pastime, with fans crowded into a baseball field on a warm summer night," says Mapes. "The sight was American rock 'n' roll at its finest, with one of the genre's most powerful live acts at the helm."

Even more succinctly, Rita Houston, the music director of New York public radio station WFUV, sums it up this way on the station's blog at wfuv.org: "Great show in a great setting on a beautiful night in Coney Island. Magic was all there."

Prior to Monday's sold-out show at KeySpan, Wilco played another sold-out set at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware, home of another minors team, the Blue Rocks. The nearby Philadelphia Inquirer's Dan DeLuca called it an "awesome" performance. The Philadelphia City Paper called it a "euphoric and elating" event, making it "easy to see why their last local show was voted #1 concert of the year (in Spark magazine). Their performance was intensely, sublimely beautiful ..."

Up next on the tour is a stop at the Maine State Pier in Portland tomorrow night and then, on Saturday, another minor-league field, Dutchess Stadium, at Wappingers Falls, in upstate New York. Jeff spoke with the Poughkeepsie Journal in advance of the show; you can read the interview at poughkeepsiejournal.com.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
