NPR's All Songs Considered unveils its Spring Music Preview, showcasing "a whole new batch of amazing music" coming soon, starting with "Howlin' for You," off The Black Keys' Brothers. "I just heard this cut and a few others," says producer Robin Hilton, "and loved it immediately. This is gonna be a great record." Host Bob Boilen plays "Only an Expert" off Laurie Anderson's Homeland. "I like her work a lot," he says. "I think she's one of America's great storytellers and has a way of insight into very ordinary, day-to-day stuff."
Today on NPR Music, the folks at All Songs Considered have unveiled their Spring Music Preview, showcasing "a whole new batch of amazing music" due out in the coming months. First up: The Black Keys. The show opens with "Howlin' for You," off the band's forthcoming Nonesuch release, Brothers, out May 18.
"These folks are gonna be on fire this year," exclaims host Bob Boilen.
"They have been on fire," producer Robin Hilton responds.
"They're a great live band," adds Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein, author of NPR Music's Monitor Mix blog. "Not only do they put out really good records, they pretty much slay live."
"I just heard this cut and a few others," Hilton explains, "and loved it immediately. This is gonna be a great record."

Also on the episode is the first play of music from Laurie Anderson's upcoming album, Homeland, her first new studio album in almost a decade, due out on Nonesuch June 15—the track titled "Only an Expert."
"I like her work a lot," says Boilen. "I think she's one of America's great storytellers and has a way of insight into very ordinary, day-to-day stuff ... That's what her art is about, taking the sort of every day and opening your eyes to it and seeing it in a new way."
