The Black Keys, after performing “Fever,” from their new album, Turn Blue, on Che Tempo Che Fa in Italy Sunday, performs on BBC Two’s Later … with Jools Holland tonight and Friday. On Wednesday, The Black Keys perform on BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe. The band is featured on the cover of the new issue of Mojo magazine (pictured at left), and Turn Blue is Album of the Month in Uncut, which exclaims: “Turn Blue turns out to be The Black Keys’ sneakiest, subtlest and most seductive album.” The Independent gives it five stars, calling it "a post-modern blues-rock marvel."

The Black Keys arrived in Europe over the weekend, performing “Fever,” the first single off their forthcoming album, Turn Blue, on Che Tempo Che Fa on Italy’s Rai 3 Sunday night, which you can watch at rai.tv. Band mates Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have now made their way to London, where they will perform on BBC Two’s Later … with Jools Holland tonight at 10 PM. Fans in the UK can tune in then to see the band perform “Fever” off the new album, due out May 12 on Nonesuch Records. The band was also featured on the cover of The Guardian’s Guide supplement over the weekend, in which they are the subject of a feature article available at theguardian.com. And in the Independent, Turn Blue was an early Album of the Week, earning a perfect five-star rating. “A post-modern blues-rock marvel which takes some of the core elements of rock ’n’ roll and casts them in new shapes,” says the Independent music critic Andy Gill of the album. “With Auerbach’s falsetto croon floating over Carney’s variously propulsive grooves, there’s an ever-expanding diversity of appeal to Turn Blue that should win new fans and please the faithful.” Read more at independent.co.uk.

    Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire’s honey from a winter stone is out January 17, 2025, on Nonesuch Records. The album, which Ambrose calls a “self-portrait,” features improvisational vocalist Kokayi, pianist Sam Harris, Chiquitamagic on synthesizer, drummer Justin Brown, and the Mivos Quartet.     Nonesuch releases a deluxe edition of Wilco’s 2004 Grammy Award–winning album A Ghost Is Born on February 7, 2025. The box set comprises either nine vinyl LPs and four CDs or nine CDs—including the original album, alternates, outtakes, and demos, charting the making of A Ghost Is Born—plus the complete 2004 concert recording from Boston’s Wang Center and the band’s “fundamentals” workshop sessions. It includes sixty-five previously unreleased music tracks as well as a forty-eight-page hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and a new liner note by Grammy-winning writer Bob Mehr. An alternate version of “Handshake Drugs,” recorded during the studio sessions at New York’s Sear Sound, twenty-one years ago this month, is out now. There will also be a new vinyl pressing of the original album in a two-disc package, and a two-CD expanded version of the original album with bonus track highlights from the full deluxe edition repertoire. The two-CD version will also be available on streaming services worldwide.
