The Low Anthem, after having spent the greater part of the year touring with acts like Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Joe Pug, Ray Lamontagne, Josh Ritter, and Langhorne Slim in support of its Nonesuch debut, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, is gearing up for yet another stretch on the road, this time with the Portland group Blind Pilot. This run of 21 club and theater dates runs from October 15 through November 12 and includes the band's West coast debut. Additionally, The Low Anthem will return to New York City for a performance at Brooklyn's Bell House at the end of August and travel to Europe for a monthlong tour in September, where they've already played at Glastonbury and sold out a show at Union Chapel in London.

The Avon Cinema, a unique art-house movie theater in the band's hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, is hosting the first October US tour date. The Cinema is a beautiful old theater, the perfect setting for the band's anticipated homecoming show and largest performance in Providence to date. The band will also be playing a free show on Block Island, off the Rhode Island coast, where Charlie Darwin was recorded, next week.

The Low Anthem’s most recent tour has taken the band through a number of prestigious festivals, including Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and the recent 50th Anniversary of the Newport Folk Festival, where band members had had humble beginnings in earlier years working as recycling crew. This time around, they got to share the stage with some of their heroes, including Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, and Gilian Welch during a group sing-along.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
