The Low Anthem is set to join The Chieftains this week as the legendary Irish band marks its 50th anniversary and the recent release of its new album, Voice of Ages (Hear Music/Concord), on which The Low Anthem performs "School Days Over" with The Chieftains. Tune in to The Late Show with David Letterman tonight on CBS at 11:35 PM ET to see the bands perform together as the show's musical guests. Then, on Friday at 6 PM ET, head over to npr.org/music, where NPR Music will stream a concert by the two groups recorded at NPR member station WGBH. The following day, Saturday, March 17, is St. Patrick's Day, of course, which The Chieftains will celebrate in style in concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City, featuring a special guest appearance by The Low Anthem.

In the middle of this banner week of music making with The Chieftains, The Low Anthem will play a special set of its own at the South by Southwest (SXSW) music conference and festival in Austin, Texas. The band will play an official SXSW concert at ACL Live at the Moody Theater Thursday night at 7 PM, followed by Alejandro Escovedo and The Sensitive Boys and another band soon to be announced. For additional details, go to swsw.com.

Next week, there's still more music to come from The Low Anthem when the soundtrack to the film The Hunger Games is released on Tuesday, March 20. The album The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond, produced by T Bone Burnett, includes The Low Anthem's song "Lover Is Childlike," as well as tracks by label mates Punch Brothers and Carolina Chocolate Drops, who can also be heard on The Chieftains' Voice of Ages.

To pick up a copy of The Low Anthem's own latest album, Smart Flesh, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include MP3s of the album at checkout.
