The Low Anthem is taking a few weeks off from its busy touring schedule to prepare its next album. The good news is, a number of sites—LaundroMatinee, Baebel Music, Duke Street Blog, and The Bandwidth Sessions—have posted video sessions of live performances by the band to allow fans to experience the live feel before the band heads out on the road again in July.

The Low Anthem may be taking a rare few weeks off from its busy touring schedule to prepare the follow-up album to its Nonesuch debut, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin. The good news is, a number of sites have recently posted video sessions featuring live performances from the band to allow fans to experience the live feel before the band heads out on the road again in July, starting with a slot at the Green River Festival and including a few dates with The Swell Season.

The folks at My Old Kentucky Blog have just posted a LaundroMatinee session with the band, featuring live performances of "To the Ghosts Who Write History Books," "Don't Let Nobody Turn You Around," and "This God Damn House." "Deceptively simple songs skillfully draped in unorthodox instrumentation," says the site. You can watch all three videos now at laundromatinee.com.

Baebel Music recently posted a 15-minute documentary, "The Moment," featuring performances from the band's April 16 performance at The Bell House in Brooklyn, New York, that features behind-the-scenes interviews with band members Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky, in which they discuss a few of the inspirations behind their music and the advantages of recording the new album in a former pasta sauce factory. That video is available at baeblemusic.com.

There's more footage from the Bell House show at Duke Street Blog, including the new song "I'll Take Out Your Ashes." You'll find that at dukestreetblog.com.

The Low Anthem was in Belfast, Northern Ireland, earlier this year for the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival’s pre-festival, Out to Lunch. The Bandwidth Sessions was there to record two songs at The Black Box: "Home I'll Never Be" and "To the Ghosts Who Write History Books." Check out the performances at bandwidthfilms.com.

"Here you have the guy who is speaking to the universality of the human experience in every molecule," Ken Burns tells Walter Isaacson on PBS's Amanpour & Co. about the subject of his latest film, Leonardo da Vinci. Sarah Burns, his co-director on the film with David McMahon, adds: "I think it's entirely central to who Leonardo was, that he had these interests across such a wide spectrum, and he didn't see those things as being separate. To him, all of these things were related and part of his larger effort to just understand the universe and everything he could about the human experience, the human body, and how all of these things are connected." You can watch their conversation here. You can watch LEONARDO da VINCI on PBS and hear Caroline Shaw's original score now.
