The Low Anthem perform songs from their new album, Smart Flesh, on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic in LA this morning, in advance of their show at The Autry tonight. The LA Times calls the album "a gorgeous, inventively arranged set of reverb-rich roots ballads in which the music's frayed edges add emotional weight." LA Weekly says "These four aim for timelessness with a brand of Americana that nods as much to high-energy gospel and gritty blues as it does to rustic, autumnal hues." The split 12" vinyl of The Low Anthem's Daytrotter Sessions, with Iron and Wine on the flip side, is now available for pre-order.

The Low Anthem will be stopping by the KCRW studios in Santa Monica, California, to appear on Morning Becomes Eclectic this morning at 11:15 AM PT. The will perform a few songs from their latest Nonesuch release, Smart Flesh, and talk with Morning Becomes Eclectic host Jason Bentley about the album. KCRW says the band "entice listeners with hauntingly beautiful songs as their pump organ sighs, their bowed saw warbles and songs are sung in enchanted whispers." The Low Anthem is in Los Angeles to perform at The Autry in Griffith Park tonight, as part of their ongoing North American tour, with former band member Daniel Lefkowitz supporting. Tune in today on 89.9 FM in Los Angeles and online at kcrw.com.

The Los Angeles Times, previewing tonight's show at The Autry, calls Smart Flesh "a gorgeous, inventively arranged set of reverb-rich roots ballads in which the music's frayed edges add emotional weight, not who-cares credibility." LA Weekly says "These four aim for timelessness with a brand of Americana that nods as much to high-energy gospel and gritty blues as it does to rustic, autumnal hues."

The Low Anthem recently made their debut at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Rolling Stone's David Fricke says "the crisp spring air was just right for the distended suspense of the group's pensive-walk rhythms and poignant antique spell. A nifty exception: the marching clatter of 'Hey, All You Hippies!' from the recent album, Smart Flesh, a song about broken promise that sounded like ragged delight."

The limited-edition, split 12" vinyl of The Low Anthem's Daytrotter Sessions, with Iron and Wine's on the flip side, is due out on May 17 and is available for pre-order starting today at lowanthem.com. The LP, limited to 1,000 copies, is being sold exclusively through "mom and pop" record stores, with a few copies available through the Daytrotter website and via the bands' websites. This will be the first-ever vinyl release to feature a full Daytrotter Session and is being issued as a joint venture from The Low Anthem, Iron and Wine, and Daytrotter. To reserve your copy, head to lowanthem.com.

You can pick up a copy of the album Smart Flesh in the Nonesuch Store, where orders include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album at checkout. For more on The Low Anthem's upcoming performances, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
