The Low Anthem, which is currently on a headlining tour of the United States with music from its latest Nonesuch release, Smart Flesh, will support City and Colour on tour of Canada and the northern US in January and February 2012. The tour starts in Portland, Oregon, on January 16 and ends in St. John, New Brunswick, on February 24. The Low Anthem's current tour makes stops this week in Minneapolis, Denver, and Salt Lake City, before hitting San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival this weekend.

The Low Anthem, which is currently on a headlining tour of the United States with music from its latest Nonesuch release, Smart Flesh, will support City and Colour, aka Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, on his tour of Canada and the northern US in January and February 2012. The tour starts in Portland, Oregon, on January 16, 2012, with the Low Anthem's last date on February 24 in St. John, New Brunswick. Pre-sale begins tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27, at 10 AM local time in each city and runs until Thursday, September 29, while pre-sale quantities last. The Low Anthem's current tour included stops at the Music Midpoint and Soundland festivals and at the Kent Stage over the weekend, and heads to Chicago tonight for a show at the Empty Bottle. This week also sees shows at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, the Larimer Lounge in Denver, and the State Room in Salt Lake City. Nonesuch and the band have teamed up with Paste magazine to give away a pair of tickets, a signed poster, and a Smart Flesh CD to one lucky winner for each date on their current US tour. This coming weekend, the band hits San Francisco to perform at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the free festival in Golden Gate Park, which will also see sets from label mates Jessica Lea Mayfield, Punch Brothers, and perennial Hardly Strictly favorite Emmylou Harris, with whom The Low Anthem toured last year.

    American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
