The Low Anthem is up for two awards open to fan votes. Those in the UK can make the most of today's election momentum and vote in the Mojo Honours List, where The Low Anthem is nominated for Breakthrough Act of the Year. The band has also been nominated in The Phoenix Best Music Poll for Local Superstars and National Roots/Americana, up against Wilco in the latter; Bill Frisell is up for Best Jazz and Stephen Merritt for Best Singer/Songwriter.

The Low Anthem, whose double bill with The Swell Season was recently announced for this summer's Celebrate Brooklyn! series, is now up for two awards that will ultimately be decided by music fans: the Mojo Honours List and The Phoenix Best Music Poll.

Today is election day in the UK, which means the country may have a new Prime Minister by tomorrow morning or, perhaps, a hung parliament. While the country mulls over the impact of this and the prospect for proportional representation, Mojo magazine is asking Britons to take a crack at another vote: for the Mojo Honours List. The Low Anthem is nominated for Breakthrough Act of the Year. Fans in the UK can make the most of the national election momentum and vote online at mojo4music.com.

In The Low Anthem's hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, the independent weekly The Phoenix, has nominated the band for its 2010 Best Music Poll in two categories: Local Superstars and National Roots/Americana. In the latter category, the band finds itself up against label mates Wilco, which closes out its Australian tour with a sold-out set in Melbourne tonight.

On less contentious fronts, fellow Nonesuch artist Bill Frisell, who is currently in the midst of a two-week residency at New York's Village Vanguard, is up for the Best in Jazz. And The Magnetic Fields front man Stephin Merritt is up for Best Singer/Songwriter. He recently performed the score he had written for the film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at the San Francisco International Film Festival and will present it again at the Seattle International Film Festival next month.

To cast your vote in the Phoenix Best Music Poll, head to thephoenix.com. Voting ends tomorrow, May 7.

Nonesuch releases a deluxe edition of Wilco’s 2004 Grammy Award–winning album A Ghost Is Born on February 7, 2025. The box set comprises either nine vinyl LPs and four CDs or nine CDs—including the original album, alternates, outtakes, and demos, charting the making of A Ghost Is Born—plus the complete 2004 concert recording from Boston’s Wang Center and the band’s “fundamentals” workshop sessions. It includes sixty-five previously unreleased music tracks as well as a forty-eight-page hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and a new liner note by Grammy-winning writer Bob Mehr. An alternate version of “Handshake Drugs,” recorded during the studio sessions at New York’s Sear Sound, twenty-one years ago this month, is out now. There will also be a new vinyl pressing of the original album in a two-disc package, and a two-CD expanded version of the original album with bonus track highlights from the full deluxe edition repertoire. The two-CD version will also be available on streaming services worldwide.
