TV Guide Recommends "The Wire" for "Wit, Grit, Sophistication"

TV Guide suggests viewers tune in to The Wire this season for all "the breathtaking ambition of the series, and its wit, grit and sophistication." Writing on tvguide.com, editor Todd Mason praises the show for "never failing to make its case with brilliantly drawn characters in believable and often morally and ethically ambiguous situations."

Looking forward to the upcoming season, which begins Sunday night, Mason says that even those who've missed any or all of the previous seasons should tune in: "[I]f the past is any indication, jumping in midstream will still make for compelling entertainment."
