k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang performed what Variety calls "a sublime set" outside the John Varvatos boutique in West Hollywood on Sunday for some 1,500 attendees at the John Varvatos 8th Annual Stuart House Benefit. Last month, lang and the band were in San Diego to give a performance at Sunset Sessions, which included five songs from their forthcoming album Sing it Loud, as well as some classic hits. The complete set was captured on video, which you can watch here.

k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang performed outside the John Varvatos boutique in West Hollywood on Sunday for a lucky and very generous crowd of some 1,500 attendees at the John Varvatos 8th Annual Stuart House Benefit. Variety's Jenny Peters says lang and co. "did a sublime set to close out the lovely afternoon." (Peters also suggests lang "is apparently drinking from the fountain of youth. Her pink-cheeked skin matched her incredible vocals; she's one rocker who hasn't aged a bit.") You can see a slideshow of photos from the event at huffingtonpost.com.

Last month, lang and the band were in San Diego to give their first public performance together at Michele Clark's Sunset Sessions, an event that brings together music supervisors and radio stations from across the country. The 35-minute set featured five songs from their forthcoming Nonesuch release, Sing it Loud—"I Confess," "Habit of Mind," "A Sleep with No Dreaming," "Sugar Buzz," and the Talking Heads tune "Heaven"—as well as her classic hit "Constant Craving," her famed take on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," and a special birthday tribute to Warner Bros. Records President Livia Tortella. It was all captured on video, which you can watch below:

While at Sunset Sessions, lang spoke with Brad Dolbeer of Portland radio station KINK FM 101.9. You can listen to that interview online at kink.com.

Sing it Loud is due out on April 12. Head to the Nonesuch Store to pre-order it now and reserve your copy of the manuscript lyric sheet of the opening track, "I Confess," a number of which will be signed by lang. There's also an expanded version of the album at kdlang.com.

New dates are being added to k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang's upcoming tour. To find out where they're playing near you, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
