When Selway wrote the songs that formed the track listing for Familial, he kept back a handful that he felt worked best as a separate piece of work; these now comprise Running Blind. The songs evolved during Selway’s live shows supporting Familial, and he subsequently returned to the studio to record them with his band: Adem, Alex Thomas, Caroline Weeks, and Kath Mann.
