Tune in to NPR's Fresh Air today to hear Wanda Jackson's 2003 interview on the show. Jackson's latest album, The Party Ain't Over, produced by Jack White, was released earlier this week on Third Man / Nonesuch Records to critical acclaim across the board. Fresh Air can be heard on NPR stations across the US and will be available online at npr.org this evening.

Consequence of Sound gives Jackson's new album four stars, calling it "a celebration of Jackson’s storied career," in which "Jackson tries her hand at reinterpreting a carefully picked mix of old standards and contemporary tunes, to great effect."

The band that White assembled for the project "provides the perfect backing to Jackson’s rugged voice," writes reviewer Möhammad Choudhery, "allowing her to showcase her talents in a variety of styles."

Choudhery concludes: "All in all, The Party Ain’t Over proves to be a bold success."

"Wanda Jackson is the hottest thing that ever came out of Oklahoma, counting oil-well fires and Wayne Coyne," says the Louisville Courier-Journal's Jeffrey Lee Puckett in his review of The Party Ain't Over. "When she arrived in the mid-1950s with country torch songs and steamy rockabilly, teenage boys went up in flames."

Now, nearly 60 years later, "her charisma is off the charts on a collection of vintage and modern classics that includes 'Shakin' All Over,' 'Rip It Up' and Bob Dylan's 'Thunder on the Mountain,' where his rock 'n' roll theology lesson comes vibrantly alive in Jackson's hands."

On The Party Ain't Over, says Puckett, Jackson "proves there's no age limit on fun."
