The Black Keys have released new song, "Stay in Your Grave," featuring Alice Cooper, the second release off of Ohio Players (Trophy Edition), the upcoming expanded version of their latest album. With eerie guitar riffs and spooky background vocals, “Stay in Your Grave” arrives right on time just before Halloween; you can hear it here. The new song follows this month’s first release from the expanded version, “Mi Tormenta” featuring regional Mexican star DannyLux. You can pre-order Ohio Players (Trophy Edition) here. This expanded edition of the band’s twelfth studio album is a two-LP set, in a gatefold jacket, with four additional tracks, an alternative cover, and new album sequencing.

Accompanying the release of “Stay in Your Grave” is an official video, below, co-directed by Corey Bost and Ali Gomez, featuring a newly shot live performance of Dan and Patrick in macabre attire that’s intercut with footage from classic horror films. Still to come are more new tracks, among them being one that features Grammy Award-winning artist Beck.

There also will be an exclusive Amazon edition of Ohio Players (Trophy Edition), pressed on purple vinyl and including the Amazon Music Original bonus track “Let Love Take Its Time.” This is the first time that Amazon Music has released an Amazon Music Original track digitally and on vinyl simultaneously.

As previously announced, The Black Keys are heading to Latin America in the spring of 2025, bringing their International Players Tour to Lima, Peru; Estereo Picnic festival in Bogotá, Colombia; and Mexico City; tickets are available here.

The Black Keys secured the #1 Current Rock Album and #1 Current Alternative Album in US sales upon the April 2024 release of Ohio Players. The album also soared to the #5 debut of the week on both Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart and Top Alternative Albums Chart and secured the #4 spot on Overall Current Album Sales. Ohio Players earned The Black Keys their sixth consecutive top 20 album in the UK, and also made it into the top 20 in other international markets such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and more.

The album, which was inspired by band members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney’s recent “record hang” parties, garnered praise from Rolling Stone, which stated, “Whether they set their retro-rock wayback machine to Memphis in the Sixties, the Midwest in the Seventies, or Manchester, England, and L.A. in the Nineties, it all flows together like a beautifully paced DJ set,” calling the album “arguably the sharpest collection of songs the Keys have come up with.” Ohio Players marked an exciting departure from The Black Keys’ prior releases, as the album brings in new and fresh influences while also still containing the widely loved sound that the duo is most known for. With an emphasis on collaboration, the album features contributions from friends and colleagues, including Beck, Noel Gallagher, Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, Greg Kurstin, Juicy J, Lil Noid, and others.

Congratulations to composer and pianist Timo Andres on receiving the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Elise L. Stoeger Prize—a $25,000 cash prize, awarded biennially by CMS to recognize significant contributions to the field of chamber music composition. Andres says: “I feel equally challenged and freed to take risks when I write chamber music, and writing it, I’ve learned the most about becoming a better composer and musician. To be recognized in this medium by one of its greatest institutional standard-bearers is a huge and unexpected honor.”

David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”
