Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno has released "Yo Me Quedo en Casa," a new video in partnership with UNICEF Guatemala and with the help of some young family members and friends to remind everyone to stay home and practice social distancing to help stop COVID-19. You can watch it and find the lyrics here. And, as part of UNICEF's efforts to promote learning at home, families are encouraged to record a video of their children singing the song using the hashtag #AprendoEnCasa. Moreno was named a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Guatemala in February.

You can watch the video below (and find the lyrics and English translation below too). And, as part of UNICEF's efforts to promote learning at home, families are encouraged to record a video of their children singing the song using the hashtag #AprendoEnCasa.
Gaby Moreno was named a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Guatemala in February, becoming the first Ambassador at the national level, a distinction for which she assumes a key role in promoting the rights of childhood and adolescence in the country.
“The most precious thing in Guatemala is its people, especially their childhood," Moreno said at the time. "Therefore, it is an honor for me to add my voice to UNICEF Guatemala and its allies, to support the most disadvantaged, to promote and defend the rights of all girls and boys, everywhere and always.”
And here is a karaoke version of the song Moreno released so kids can sing along:
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Hoy les quiero compartir
Esto nuevo que escribí
Vamos juntos a decir
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Cuidar mi mente, cuidar mi salud
Esa es una gran virtud
Que se escuche hasta Xelaju
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Por el bien de uno y de los demás
Y dejar este problema atrás
Por eso yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Cuido a mi familia y a mi prójimo
Pues son lo que mas amo yo
Así canto con todo el ánimo
Yo me quedo en casa
Es nuestra responsabilidad
Un acto de sensibilidad
Para con nosotros y la comunidad
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Por eso yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Yo… yo…
Yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Es tan lindo en familia poder compartir
Y así rapidito a este feo virus combatir
Por eso yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Yo… yo….
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Por ti… por mi…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA
Yo… yo…
YO ME QUEDO EN CASA

I STAY HOME
Today I want to share with you
Something new that I wrote
Let’s all say together
I stay home
Taking care of my mind and taking care of my health
That’s a great virtue
Let it be heard all the way to “Xelajú”
I stay home
For one’s well-being as well as others
And leaving this problem in the past
That’s why I, I ...
”I stay home”
I take care of my family and my neighbors
Because they are what I love the most
So I sing with joy
”I stay home”
It is our responsibility
An act of sensitivity
To ourselves and our community
“I stay home”
That’s why I, I ...
“I stay home”
Now, then. What can we do at home?
Read a book, paint, play my ukulele or play cards
But always remembering
“I stay home”
For my grandparents, brothers, sisters and my parents and to leave this problem in the past
That’s why I, I ...
“I stay home”
It’s so nice to share with our families
And that way, quickly get rid of this ugly virus!
that’s why I, I ...
“I stay home”
I, I ...
“I stay home”
For you... for me...
“I stay home”
I, I ...
“I stay home”
