Lake Street Dive, which kicks off its Side Pony tour with a sold-out show in Phoenix tonight, recently stopped by WFUV in NYC to discuss and perform songs from the album: "Call Off Your Dogs," "Mistakes," and the title track."There is something exciting about witnessing the success of a band that is not only wildly talented, but also authentic, that their success also becomes an inspiring symbol of staying true to yourself," says host Carmel Holt. Watch the performances here. The new album is also WFUV's New Dig. "Side Pony is Lake Street Dive's most accomplished studio recording and the band's trademark mix of classic soul, Beatlesque pop, jazzy melodies and vintage country is on full display," says WFUV's Darren DeVivo.
Lake Street Dive kicks off its US tour with a sold-out show at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Arizona, tonight, performing music from their just-release Nonesuch Records debut album, Side Pony. Before heading out on the road, the band stopped by the WFUV studios in New York City to perform an FUV Live session of songs from the album and talk with host Carmel Holt about their music. You can watch their performances of "Call Off Your Dogs," "Mistakes," and the title track below.
"There is something exciting about witnessing the success of a band that is not only wildly talented, but also authentic, that their success also becomes an inspiring symbol of staying true to yourself," says Holt. "But Lake Street Dive has done all this while totally charting their own path, and now we have a new way to describe their philosophy: it’s Side Pony, which is not only a quirky hairstyle, but the band’s term for celebrating and embracing individuality, making it the perfect title to their new album."

Side Pony is also WFUV's New Dig this week.
"Side Pony is Lake Street Dive's most accomplished studio recording and the band's trademark mix of classic soul, Beatlesque pop, jazzy melodies and vintage country is on full display here," says WFUV's Darren DeVivo. "The quartet's instrumental chops and overall musicality reach new heights ... Side Pony is the logical next step in the growth, maturation and progression of Lake Street Dive."
