Nickel Creek has unveiled a new video for "Hayloft," its cover of the Mother Mother song, off its Nonesuch Records debut album, A Dotted Line. The video, directed by Steven Mertens, premiered on The A.V. Club, which says: "The album, A Dotted Line, captured everything great about the acoustic trio without missing a beat. One song stuck out, though," and that's "Hayloft." Watch it here. NPR's Heavy Rotation has named another album track, "Destination," among its 10 Favorite Songs of the Year (So Far).
Nickel Creek—Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins—has unveiled a new video for "Hayloft," its cover of the Mother Mother song, off its recently released Nonesuch Records debut album, A Dotted Line. The video, directed by Steven Mertens, premiered on The A.V. Club, which says: "The album, A Dotted Line, captured everything great about the acoustic trio without missing a beat. One song stuck out, though," and that's "Hayloft." You can watch the video here:
Another track of the new album, “Destination,” has made NPR’s Heavy Rotation panel’s 10 Favorite Songs Of The Year (So Far). “The power-chord-like backing harmonies from Chris Thile and Sean Watkins hit so hard, the notes themselves convey the point the singers are making,” says Folk Alley’s Kim Ruehl. “By the time Sara Watkins' fiddle snakes languidly above the straight-rhythm staccato mandolin, you might forget that this wall of sound could just as likely happen around a single mic.” Read more at npr.org.
Nickel Creek has also just announced the final new dates for its summer tour: Mesa, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Colorado Springs, Colorado, in late August. The Secret Sisters, Sarah Jarosz, and Josh Ritter will be joining the band throughout the tour. See below for the complete list of dates. For details and ticket links, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
To pick up a copy of A Dotted Line, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where vinyl and CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout; MP3 and FLAC lossless files are also available to purchase there.
