Rachael & Vilray have shared a quick behind-the-scenes look at the making of their self-titled debut album, due October 4. It shows the duo in the studio in Brooklyn with pianists Jon Batiste and Akie Bermiss, drummer Jason Burger, and bassist Tony Scherr, all set to songs from the forthcoming album. "People have music that makes them feel something," Batiste says in the video. "That's the music you can play anywhere and everywhere, because it comes from the heart. Rachael & Vilray have shared a quick behind-the-scenes look at the making of their self-titled debut album, due October 4 on Nonesuch Records. The video, set to songs from the album, shows Lake Street Dive singer-songwriter Rachael Price and composer, singer, and guitarist Vilray in the studio at Figure 8 Recording in Brooklyn, New York, this past March. They’re joined by pianists Jon Batiste and Akie Bermiss, drummer Jason Burger, and bassist Tony Scherr. The video, which you can see below, was shot by Matthew Edginton and edited by Robert Edridge-Waks.

"People have music that makes them feel something," Batiste says in the video. "That's the music you can play anywhere and everywhere, because it comes from the heart. It brings people a sense of humanity. Like the way she was singing, and the way that we just came in the room, and we played quietly listening to each other—it's a very human experience."

Rachael & Vilray features ten original songs by Vilray, plus two covers from the era that inspired him: Cuban composer Pedro Junco Jr.'s 1943 "Nosotros" and Drake/Atler's "I Love the Way You're Breaking My Heart," first popularized by Peggy Lee. The album is available for pre-order at iTunes and the Nonesuch Store, where the track "Alone at Last" may be downloaded immediately. Nonesuch Store orders also include an exclusive, limited-edition print of a painting made by Hannah Rawe for the occasion and autographed by Rachael and Vilray. The album will also stream at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and other digital service providers.

Tickets for Rachael & Vilray's fall tour are on sale now.
