Rhiannon Giddens could be seen on televisions across the United States over the weekend. She performed "Cry No More" on Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, a two-hour event airing on A&E Networks and iHeartRadio stations Friday night, and "Waterboy" on PBS's Austin City Limits special of highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards show on Saturday night. Rhiannon Giddens, while rounding out her North American fall tour, could be seen on televisions across the United States over the weekend. She performed in Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, a two-hour event airing on A&E Networks and iHeartRadio stations Friday night, and on PBS's Austin City Limits special of highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards show on Saturday night.

For Shining a Light, Giddens joined artists like Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Miguel, Pink, Jill Scott, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and Pharrell Williams for the event, which was focused on creating reconciliation and positive change in local communities. She performed "Cry No More," a song she co-wrote with her sister Lalenja Harrington in response to the tragic shooting of nine parishioners at the Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC, in June. On the Austin City Limits special, Giddens could be seen performing "Waterboy," from her debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. The show featured highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards show held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville earlier this fall. You can watch that performance here:

    Legendary New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint (1938–2015) is featured on a new stamp from the US Postal Service, available January 30—the forty-eighth in its Black Heritage stamp series. Ethel Kessler, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp using a photograph by Bill Thompkins. A free first-day-of-issue event will be held at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center in New Orleans.
