Rhiannon Giddens followed her Saturday Sessions set of songs from her new album, You're the One, on CBS Saturday Morning over the weekend with an appearance on CBS Mornings today to talk with correspondent Anthony Mason about the new album, her Pulitzer Prize–winning opera with Michael Abels, Omar, and more. "She’s kind of phenomenal, really," Mason tells his colleagues on the show. "She’s doing some incredibly important work." You can watch the conversation here:

You’re the One is Giddens’ third solo studio album and her first of all original songs. This collection of twelve tunes written over the course of her career bursts with life-affirming energy, drawing from the folk music she knows so deeply and its pop descendants. The album was produced by Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Alicia Keys, Valerie June) and recorded with an ensemble including Giddens' closest musical collaborators from the past decade, a string section, and Miami Horns. The lone featured guest on the album is Jason Isbell on “Yet to Be.” You can hear it and pick up a copy here.

Rhiannon Giddens will perform music from the new album on tour this fall and into next year. You can find all the details and get tickets at nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Guitarist/composer Yasmin Williams stopped by the NPR offices in Washington, DC, to perform a Tiny Desk Concert of songs from her new album, Acadia, and more. "Williams is a fingerstyle guitarist who taps, slaps and slides up and down the fretboard of her instrument with a commanding sense of scenery that flickers between the strings," says NPR's Lars Gotrich. "Storytellers build worlds; at the Tiny Desk, Williams invites us into hers." You can watch it here.
