Rhiannon Giddens took part in the TED conference in Vancouver, Canada, in February of this year, precisely one year after the release of her debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. She joined the international music collective Silk Road Ensemble to perform "St. James Infirmary," a traditional tune made famous by Louis Armstrong and which Allen Toussaint recorded for his Nonesuch debut album, The Bright Mississippi. As noted yesterday in the Nonesuch Journal, Rhiannon Giddens will perform at Alice Tully Hall in New York City next May for Lincoln Center's American Songbook series. She performs at the Highlands Food & Wine festival in her home state of North Carolina later this month, then joins Dirk Powell for several shows in California.
