The Staves have released a new video podcast episode in which band mates and sisters Jessica and Camilla Stavely-Taylor chat about all things All Now, their new album. "I think wanting things to be really good can make you very afraid to try, because you're worried about failing, about falling short of that, which is such a trap—it keeps you kind of frozen," Camilla says. "Ultimately it doesn't matter, you have to just do things, keep those muscles moving, making things and being imperfect and imperfections are what life is about. That's human." You can watch their conversation here.

"I think sometimes you can be quite paralyzed thinking about ... wanting things to be really good and wanting to articulate things really well and do a really good job and make something that resonates with people and know that you've expressed yourself completely and said all you want to say," Camilla says of the creative process. "And I think wanting things to be really good can make you very afraid to try, because you're worried about failing, about falling short of that, which is such a trap—it keeps you kind of frozen. The Staves’ All Now, produced by John Congleton (Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen), marks the band’s debut album as the duo of Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor, following their sister Emily’s departure. “There was a delayed reaction to trauma and these big changes out of your control,” Jess says of the period after the February 2021 release of their album Good Woman, as the band—like everyone—was forced to sit with their thoughts. Struggling after two years of deep solitude and pain, The Staves did what they know how to do best: they got back to writing with the idea of going back to basics and focusing almost solely on each other and their guitars as a starting point. You can get the new album and hear it here.
