The Staves' Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor have shared a video of them giving an acoustic performance of "I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," a song from their latest album, All Now, and their new acoustic EP, Happy New Year. You can watch it here:

Happy New Year, released November 22, comprises two additional songs from All Now, "After School" and the title track, as well as a cover of the Beatles’ “She’s Leaving Home." "This EP was inspired by the acoustic performances we had done while promoting All Now," the duo says. "These versions are about casting a light on the lyrics of these songs and the stories they tell, and also celebrating our two voices together by removing almost everything else but guitars.

Produced by John Congleton (Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen) and released in March, All Now was Camilla and Jessica Staveley-Taylor’s first recording as a duo. Jessica says of the album, “There was a delayed reaction to trauma and these big changes out of our control.” The Staves—like the rest of us—were forced to sit with their thoughts, but also were still processing the death of their mother and other seismic changes: their sister Emily had stepped away from the band to focus on motherhood, while Camilla reckoned with her own mental and physical health issues.

Congratulations to composer and pianist Timo Andres on receiving the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Elise L. Stoeger Prize—a $25,000 cash prize, awarded biennially by CMS to recognize significant contributions to the field of chamber music composition. Andres says: “I feel equally challenged and freed to take risks when I write chamber music, and writing it, I’ve learned the most about becoming a better composer and musician. To be recognized in this medium by one of its greatest institutional standard-bearers is a huge and unexpected honor.”

David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”
