Pianist Tigran Hamasyan has released a video that goes behind the scenes in the recording studio in Meudon, France, where his new album, Mockroot, was recorded in May of last year. The video shows Hamasyan with his trio—Sam Minaie on electric bass and Arthur Hnatek on drums and live electronics—and vocalist Gayanée Movsisyan as they record the new album. Watch it here.

Pianist Tigran Hamasyan's new album, Mockroot, is coming soon on Nonesuch Records, and in advance of the release, Hamasyan has released a short video that goes behind the scenes in the recording studio in Meudon, France, where the album was recorded in May of last year. The video, by Luska Khalapyan and Armen Catanasian, shows Hamasyan with his trio—Sam Minaie on electric bass and Arthur Hnatek on drums and live electronics—and vocalist Gayanée Movsisyan as they record the new album. You can watch it below.

To pre-order Mockroot and download two tracks—"Entertain Me" and "The Apple Orchard in Saghmosavanq"—now, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album available on release day, February 17.

    The original score for Ken Burns’s new two-part documentary, LEONARDO da VINCI, with new compositions by Caroline Shaw, is out now; the documentary airs on November 18 and 19 at 8pm ET on PBS. The album features performances by the composer’s longtime collaborators Attacca Quartet, Sō Percussion, and Roomful of Teeth as well as John Patitucci. Shaw wrote and recorded new music for LEONARDO da VINCI, marking the first time a Ken Burns film has featured an entirely original score. Also out today is a music video for the album track "The Mona Lisa," which can be seen here.
