The much-lauded film Boyhood was the focus of a TimesTalks conversation at TheTimesCenter in New York City earlier this week. The film's writer, director, and producer Richard Linklater and cast members Ethan Hawke and Ellar Coltrane spoke with New York Times reporter Cara Buckley, the writer of the Times' Carpetbagger award-season blog, about the unique project, which was shot over 12 years with the same cast and tells groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child who literally grows up on screen before the viewers' eyes. You can watch the hour-long discussion, including a number of clips from the film, below.
Linklater is also the guest on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron. He talks with Maron about Boyhood and number of his other films, including Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Waking Life, School of Rock, and the Before series of films he made with Hawke. You can listen to the episode at wtfpod.com, where the conversation begins 14 minutes in.
Boyhood, which is now available on Blu-ray and DVD, has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards: Best Motion Picture, Drama; Best Director and Best Screenplay for Richard Linklater; Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette; and Best Supporting Actor for Ethan Hawke. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony takes place this Sunday with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and will be broadcast live on NBC.
