    Dan Auerbach took PBS NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown on a tour of his Easy Eye Sound studio and discussed the artists he's recorded there with his label, including Yola, Robert Finley, Shannon Shaw, and The Black Keys. "Eclectic, functional, and intimate," says Brown, "it's a space that seems to sum up Dan Auerbach's philosophy for making music." Auerbach says: "In my heart, I believe that this is what I'm supposed to be doing." Watch it here.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney spoke with host Talia Schlanger about their songwriting process, life on the road, and their return to the studio to make their new album, "Let's Rock."     Stephin Merritt will lead a four-concert residency at Symphony Space in NYC this fall, titled From 69 to 50: A Stephin Merritt / Magnetic Fields Residency, showcasing three of his bands: The Magnetic Fields will perform two Saturday night shows at Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, November 16 and December 7; Future Bible Heroes will perform at Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre on November 21; and The Gothic Archies at the Thalia on December 12.

    Kronos Quartet has released a video for "Beebopterismo," a track from the forthcoming recording of Terry Riley's Sun Rings. The video arrives ahead of Saturday's 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The piece was commissioned in part by the NASA Art Program and includes plasma waves recorded from NASA spacecraft. The video, edited by Robert Edridge-Waks, features footage from Willie Williams' visual design for the staged multimedia production of the piece. Watch it here.

    Ry Cooder's critically acclaimed album Chávez Ravine, first released on Nonesuch Records in 2005, will make its vinyl debut on September 6. With a cast of legendary Chicano musicians, Cooder recounts the story of how a Mexican-American community was razed to make way for L.A.'s Dodger Stadium. "A remarkable song cycle," said Rolling Stone, "a brilliant and flavorful film-noir history lesson." The two-LP vinyl edition was remastered from the original high-resolution source files and pressed on 140-gram vinyl. The set comes in a gatefold tip-on jacket with a twenty-page, full-color booklet.     The Black Keys debuted the trailer for their "MasterCourse" via Funny or Die, where they provide secrets of their success and songwriting craft, as well as inspiration for some of their songs. In the video, directed by Bryan Schlam, Patrick Carney says, "after this course you’ll be able to write music like the pros," and Dan Auerbach adds, "unless you’re not naturally gifted like us, then we can’t really help you."     Gaby Moreno was on WNYC's All of It on Friday to perform a few songs, including "Across the Borderline" from her upcoming album, ¡Spangled!, and talk with host Alison Stewart; you can hear it here. Later that night, she led a multi-artist concert for Celebrate Brooklyn!, welcoming several guest artists including Jackson Browne, with whom she sang "Across the Borderline," and Oscar Isaac. They closed the show with a fitting finale of "Fare Thee Well." "Bidding the crowd farewell, their three voices rose beautifully into the Brooklyn night," says Billboard

    ¡Spangled!—a collaboration between Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and American musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer Van Dyke Parks—is due on Nonesuch Records on October 4 (on Metamorfosis in Latin America). The ten-song set spans more than a century, including a bolero from Panama, a bossa nova from Brazil, a song by Moreno, Trinidadian songwriter David Rudder's "The Immigrants," and an elegiac ballad from the Southwest US: Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, and Jim Dickinson’s “Across the Borderline,” performed with Cooder and Jackson Browne.
