Brad Mehldau brought music from his album After Bach to the Philharmonie de Paris this spring for a full concert that can be seen here via ARTE. "Brad Mehldau is one of the most influential jazzmen of the last twenty years," says the Philharmonie. "For this exceptional program, he departs from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier to develop his own compositions ... This offering by Mehldau is unlike any other."
Brad Mehldau brought his Three Pieces After Bach program to the Philharmonie de Paris in April. As with his album, After Bach, released on Nonesuch in March, the solo program pairs pieces from J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier with Mehldau's own works inspired by Bach. The concert was broadcast live from the beautiful Jean Nouvel–designed hall and can be watched again in its entirety below via the European culture TV channel ARTE.
"Brad Mehldau is one of the most influential jazzmen of the last twenty years," says the Philharmonie. "For this exceptional program, he departs from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier to develop his own compositions ... This offering by Mehldau is unlike any other."
To pick up a copy of After Bach, head to iTunes, Amazon, and the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. You can also listen to After Bach on Spotify and Apple Music.
