Stanford Live has announced its 2019–20 concert season, and featured among the performers taking the stage at Bing Concert Hall in Stanford, California, are several Nonesuch artists: Brad Mehldau, Kronos Quartet, Laurie Anderson, and Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi.

Brad Mehldau's Finding Gabriel will be released on Nonesuch on May 17, 2019. The album comprises nine thematically related songs by Mehldau and features performances by him on piano, synthesizers, percussion, Fender Rhodes, and vocals. Guest musicians include Ambrose Akinmusire, Sara Caswell, Kurt Elling, Joel Frahm, Mark Guiliana, Gabriel Kahane, Becca Stevens, and others. Carnegie Hall has announced its 2019–20 concert season, and featured among the performers taking the esteemed hall's stages are Brad Mehldau, Kronos Quartet, Jeremy Denk, Timo Andres, and Ry Cooder, as well as the New York premiere of a new work by John Adams.

Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau were featured in this year's edition of NPR Music's Toast of the Nation, an annual New Year's Eve show of jazz performances. "These guys are great friends and have been playing together since the early '90s," says host Christian McBride. "A few years back, they decided to join forces once more to record a live album called Nearness. You can hear how well they connect musically." Jazzwise magazine has published its list of the Top 20 Jazz Albums of 2018, including three Nonesuch releases: Brad Mehldau Trio's Seymour Reads The Constitution!; Joshua Redman's collaboration with Ron Miles, Scott Colley, and Brian Blade, Still Dreaming; and Brad Mehldau's solo album After Bach.

Brad Mehldau brought music from his album After Bach to the Philharmonie de Paris this spring for a full concert that can be seen here via ARTE. "Brad Mehldau is one of the most influential jazzmen of the last twenty years," says the Philharmonie. "For this exceptional program, he departs from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier to develop his own compositions ... This offering by Mehldau is unlike any other."

The Brad Mehldau Trio begins a tour of Europe in support of its new album, Seymour Reads the Constitution!, with a set at the Montreux Jazz Festival tonight. The month-long tour includes shows in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland, concluding back in France at Jazz in Marciac on July 29.

Brad Mehldau has shared the story behind the title track to his new Trio album, Seymour Reads The Constitution!, in a new essay. "In 2014, I had a dream that the actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was reading the American Constitution to me," he begins. You can read what he has to say here.

Brad Mehldau Trio's new album, Seymour Reads the Constitution! , is out now. The pianist and his longtime trio—drummer Jeff Ballard and bassist Larry Grenadier—perform three Mehldau originals combined with interpretations of pop songs (Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson), jazz tunes (Elmo Hope, Sam Rivers), and the American songbook (Frederick Loewe). "This is sumptuous, collective improvisation of the highest order," exclaims The Arts Desk's five-star review. "It's so good, it sounds effortless ... Gorgeous."
