Daughter of Swords, aka Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, has shared a video for "Shining Woman," from her upcoming album, Dawnbreaker. "The vision of this powerful person alone on a bike trip not asking permission from anyone appeared out of nowhere, and took up residence in my mind," she says of the video. "Like my subconscious staging an intervention and reminding me that I haven't died, there are no rules, and that I have the power to make different choices for myself." You can watch it here.

Daughter of Swords, a.k.a. Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, releases her debut album, Dawnbreaker, on June 28, 2019, via Nonesuch Records (Bella Union in Europe). Co-produced with Sylvan Esso's Nick Sanborn, the album crackles with country swagger and a sparkling pop warmth. Mountain Man's set at NPR Music's SXSW Tiny Desk Family Hour was among the "'Wow' Moments from SXSW 2019," said All Songs Considered. You can now watch the trio—Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, Molly Sarlé, Amelia Meath—perform three songs from the set: "AGT" from their album Magic Ship; Sarlé's "Human"; and "Grasses" by Daughter of Swords, Sauser-Monnig's new solo project. Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig brought her solo project, Daughter of Swords, to the Paste Studio Austin live from the Riverview Bungalows during SXSW. She performed three songs: "Gem," the first music released from the debut Daughter of Swords album, due later this year on Nonesuch; "Grasses," another of her songs; and the shape-note tune "What Wondrous Love Is This." The song is the first music from the debut Daughter of Swords album, due later this year on Nonesuch.
