Mandy Patinkin begins his Diaries 2018 tour with a sold-out, ten-performance residency presented by New York Theatre Workshop at The Connelly Theater in NYC, starting Wednesday and continuing through October 28. (A limited number of tickets are available via a daily TodayTix lottery.) He will bring the tour to California, Hawaii, and Australia in November.

Singer Mandy Patinkin and pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett's Diary: April/May 2018, the second in their Diary series of musical installments, is out now on Nonesuch. The fourteen tracks of this Diary entry, recorded in Bartlett's NYC studio, include two songs written by Patinkin himself plus songs by Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Harry Nilsson, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Taylor Mac, Keren Ann, and Stephen Sondheim. Mandy Patinkin, who released the first in a series of musical installments with pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett, Diary: January 27, 2018, in April, will perform music from the series with pianist Adam Ben David on the Diaries 2018 tour, starting with a nine-concert run in NYC's East Village in October. The tour heads west in November for performances in Palo Alto and Honolulu, then to Australia for shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. "Singing onstage is one of the great joys of my life," says Patinkin, "so I'm back on the boards."

Mandy Patinkin, or rather an animated version of the singer and actor, is featured on the latest episode of The Birds and The BS, "the kids show for adults," hosted by Jordan Roth. Mandy Patinkin was a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night, along with actress Lucy Liu and musician Shawn Mendes, who is a special guest / co-host on the show all week. Patinkin gave Mendes some love advice based on his own marriage of forty years and gave the audience of taste of what Mendes's song "Stitches" sounds like in Yiddish. The International Rescue Committee has named Mandy Patinkin an IRC Ambassador in recognition of his continued efforts to advocate for the welcoming of refugees around the world. He traveled with the IRC to Uganda to meet some of the more than one million South Sudanese refugees welcomed there. "Meeting with refugees from all around the world has made one thing very clear to me: all they want is a better tomorrow for their loved ones, their family, their children," says Patinkin. "This is why I am so proud of my partnership with the IRC—an organization tirelessly working to support the world's most vulnerable and give them a chance to survive and thrive despite the worst of circumstances."

Congrats to Mandy Patinkin, who received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles yesterday. The ceremony was held in front of the Pantages Theater at 6243 Hollywood Boulevard, where Patinkin's star became the 2,629th on the Walk of Fame. Rupert Friend, Patinkin's Homeland co-star, and Patti LuPone, Patinkin's longtime friend and frequent touring partner, spoke at the event. Mandy Patinkin, after having completed filming the latest season of the Showtime series Homeland, traveled to Europe with his wife Kathryn to continue his work with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), visiting refugee camps and helping to shed light on the humanitarian crisis. He was also reunited with a Syrian family he had first met in a refugee camp in their new home in Germany. Randy Newman, Mandy Patinkin, and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy joined a panoply of performers, politicians, diplomats, musicians, actors, journalists, writers, athletes, Sesame Street notables and more for the final episode of The Colbert Report last night. Newman, at the piano, accompanied host Stephen Colbert and this cavalcade of stars, friends, and well-wishers, both in the studio and afar (even far, far away in outer space), to bid the show a fond farewell, singing a rousing rendition of the classic tune “We’ll Meet Again.” You can watch the stellar sing-a-long here.
