Following the release of their critically acclaimed new album El Camino and a sold-out European tour earlier this year, The Black Keys have announced new European dates in November and December 2012. The tour includes concerts in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, and Germany. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday. As the NME wrote of the band’s recent UK tour, "The Black Keys have slowly but surely become one of the biggest bands in the world—and going by this wonderfully charged performance, it’s not difficult to understand why."

The Black Keys return to NYC for the second of two shows at Madison Square Garden tonight, following their first-ever headlining show at the venue earlier this month, which the AP says "electrified" the place. The band had a homecoming show at The Q in Cleveland Tuesday. "I’ve caught the Black Keys in a variety of settings," says the Cleveland Plain Dealer's John Soeder. "I’ve never known them to put on a bad show. And I’ve never witnessed them put on a better one than they did on this high-stakes occasion." The Chicago Tribune reports from Monday's show at the United Center that the band's sound remains full of "brawny riffs and rolling, tumbling drums that swing hard."

The Black Keys take their North American arena tour to Chicago for a performance at the United Center tonight. At Friday's show at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, "11,000 attendees rallied around Auerbach's flawless and precise solos and Carney's caveman beats," says the Indianapolis Star. Auerbach tells the Chicago Tribune: "There’s something about those old arenas, where it feels larger than life. It’s like walking into a (big-league) baseball or basketball game, it’s on a different level, and I love that.” At the same time, he tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "We don't change anything, whether we're playing on a small stage or a big stage."

The Black Keys' North American arena tour brought the band to NYC last night for a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, the band's first-ever headlining show at the venue. They head next to Canada for shows in Montreal tonight and Toronto tomorrow. "The Black Keys are rock stars, and their traditional rock sound electrified Madison Square Garden on Monday night," exclaims the AP, which calls the show "exhilarating, bluesy and loud." Rolling Stone says: "[T]he songs from El Camino cast a spell over the packed arena as Auerbach wound their hooks into broad, euphoric payoffs."

The Black Keys have brought their North American arena tour to New York City for a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden tonight with special guests Arctic Monkeys, following the weekend's stellar shows in DC and Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Inquirer raves: "They are a big band in these small times, and Saturday night they delivered a smoking-gun performance—which is to say they killed—at the sold-out Wells Fargo Center." The Washington Post exclaims: "Friday night the band thrilled the crowd that packed Verizon Center with nearly two hours of a brand of guitar rock whose demise, judging from this show, has been greatly exaggerated."

The Black Keys kicked off the first leg of their months-long North American arena tour with performances in Cincinnati, Detroit, and Columbus and hit the East Coast this week. Friday night's tour opener was "90 minutes of their patented hard-chopping blues," reports MTV. Playing arenas is "an amazing accomplishment for a group that has put in more than their share of road work and had the kind of slow-and-steady climb that rarely happens in this era of rocket-straight-to-the-top pop stars or grind-'em-out club bands." The Columbus Dispatch reports from Sunday's show: "The tunes were loud, the musicianship tight but relaxed and the vibe just right."

The Black Keys' new music video for "Gold on the Ceiling," off their album El Camino, premiered Monday on MTV. The video was directed by Reid Long and captures the band both on stage and behind the scenes, at their album release show at New York's Webster Hall and on the road. SPIN calls the song "a punchy, swag-friendly rave-up." VH1 calls it "an honest, organic rock song that is as faithful to the roots of the genre as any modern band can be." MTV sums up the video succinctly: "It simply features The Black Keys doing what they do best: rocking the f*** out." Watch it here.
