The Staves, currently on tour in the UK, have released a stripped down, alternate version of "Best Friend," a song from their new album, Good Woman; it is the second in their Be Kind series of special singles, following a new version of the album's title track. "We went into the studio with the wonderfully talented Marcus Hamblett (our bandmate and long-time collaborator) with the intention of revisiting some of the songs from Good Woman, to explore some of the more soft and tender parts that are there," the band says. The Staves will bring their tour to North America in early 2022. 

The Staves performed "Best Friend," from their new album, Good Woman, for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's online series Play at Home. The video was filmed at Snap Studios in London. You can watch it here.

The Staves perform an NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert of four songs from their new album, Good Woman—"Nothing's Gonna Happen," "Good Woman," "Satisfied," and "Waiting on Me to Change"—from the kitchen of their childhood home in Watford, England, for NPR Music. Sisters Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor are joined by guitarist and horn player Marcus Hamblett for the set, which you can watch here. The Staves have announced a tour of North America for early 2022, featuring songs from their new album, Good Woman. The tour begins in Dallas on February 9, heading across the South, up the mid-Atlantic to the Northeast, up to Canada, back down the US Midwest, over to the Pacific Northwest, and down to California, culminating at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on March 15. "We are beyond thrilled to announce that we will be coming to you in 2022!! We can’t wait to take Good Woman on the road to a town near you!"

The Staves performed three tracks from their new album, Good Woman live from the BBC's Radio Theatre for BBC Radio 6 Music's Shaun Keaveny show. “Like warm buttermilk and honey siphoned into my ear canal," says Keaveny. You can hear the performances here. The band's album-release livestream show from February will be rebroadcast with a special new encore recorded from the sisters' family home in Watford on May 20. "We loved playing this show and wanted to give you all another chance to see it," says the trio, "or watch it for the first time before the real thing comes back later this year (fingers crossed)." 

The Staves celebrated the release of their new album, Good Woman, with a live-streamed ticketed concert from the London venue Lafayette on Friday. The band has now released their performance of the album tracks "Best Friend" and "Waiting on Me to Change" from the show, which you can watch here. "It was utterly beautiful and powerful," Clash says of the concert. "You expect excellent and classy harmonies when watching this band and they didn’t disappoint ... The Staves are a breath of fresh air and should be on everyone’s list to see when they can tour properly."

The Staves have released a live performance video for "Failure," a song from their just-released album, Good Woman, which you can watch here. "There’d been a hiatus period that we took," Jessica Staveley-Taylor tells Stereogum. "I think I’d been away from it for too long and I felt lots of doubt about myself, doubt about the record that we were working on, doubt about the band and the directions we were all heading in ... And I think that by the time 'Failure' was written, we were back in the studio and feeling better about things, so it’s kind of taking those feelings I’d felt during one of the worst times and kind of owning them ..."

The Staves release their first new album in six years, Good Woman, out now on Nonesuch Records in the US. Good Woman was written and recorded in a time of tremendous turmoil and change for the band, between the ending of relationships, the death of their beloved mother, and the birth of Emily’s first child. Produced by John Congleton, the album is a testament to the Stavely-Taylors’ strength and that of other women; to sisters, mothers, and daughters; to love, loss, and change; and to trying to be a good woman. The Staves celebrate the album's release with a live-streamed, ticketed concert from the London venue Lafayette tonight.

The Staves have released "Devotion," the fourth and final track to be shared ahead of the February 5 release of their new album, Good Woman. "Devotion" follows the previously released album tracks "Satisfied," "Trying," and "Good Woman." "This song came from a feeling of being totally at the mercy of someone else," the Staves say of the new track. "Being a passenger and never a driver in any situation. Being blinded by devotion and unable to navigate the way out."

The Staves have announced a live-streamed, ticketed event for February 5, the release date of their new album, Good Woman. The performance, filmed at the London venue Lafayette, will celebrate The Staves’ musical career, from their debut album to the new record, with a mix of intimate stripped back performances and songs with a full band. "Given the current lockdown restrictions we sadly had to cancel our Christmas show at short notice," says the band, "so we wanted to find a way to play live for everyone. We are beyond thrilled to be performing again and to bring something new to our fans."
