World Circuit and Nonesuch Records are set to release Ali and Toumani, the second and last album pairing the late Malian guitar virtuoso Ali Farka Touré and kora master Toumani Diabaté, in February 2010. Recorded over three afternoons at London's Livingston Studios in 2005, with contributions from the late Orlando "Cachaíto" López on bass, Ali and Toumani is the successor to the duo's Grammy-winning In the Heart of the Moon. The new album was produced by Nick Gold and beautifully recorded by Jerry Boys, the same production team behind the earlier recording. It is the last album recorded by both Ali Farka Touré and Cachaíto López.

You can catch a sneak peek of the album at nonesuch.com/media, where you'll also find a video of Ali and Toumani performing the full album track "Kala Djula." The latter video premiered on Pitchfork earlier this morning.

Toumani Diabaté and his band will play his interpretations of the music of Ali Farka Touré in a series of special concerts starting in April 2010. Check back with the Nonesuch Journal for more information as it becomes available.

The twenty-seven disc box set Steve Reich Collected Works is due March 14, 2025, on Nonesuch. It features music recorded during the composer's forty years on the label—six decades of his compositions, including first recordings of his two latest works, Jacob’s Ladder and Traveler’s Prayer—plus two extensive booklets with new essays by Robert Hurwitz, Michael Tilson Thomas, Russell Hartenberger, Judith Sherman, and Nico Muhly, and a comprehensive listener’s guide by Timo Andres. Nonesuch made its first record with Steve Reich in 1985; he was signed exclusively to the label that year. Collected Works includes twenty-four discs of Nonesuch recordings and three from other labels.
