When Record Store Day took place last month, among the special items were The Allen Toussaint Collection, a compilation of tracks from his first four albums in its first-ever vinyl release; Emmylou Harris's Queen of the Silver Dollar: The Studio Albums, 1975–79, her first five studio albums on vinyl and a bonus 45 RPM; and Randy Newman's Lonely at the Top: Studio Albums, 1968–77, his first five studio albums on vinyl and a bonus 45 RPM. A limited number of all three vinyl releases is now available in the Nonesuch Store.

On July 14, Nonesuch will release The Queen of Hearts, the debut album from Offa Rex, a new project from Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists. Produced and recorded by Tucker Martine and Colin Meloy at Martine's studio in Portland, OR, and mostly arranged by Chaney, The Queen of Hearts draws largely on traditional English-Irish-Scottish repertoire to create a transatlantic musical conversation that flirts with psychedelia and folk rock while maintaining its own inimitable identity. Nonesuch releases The Natalie Merchant Collection—a deluxe ten-CD box set compiled by Merchant—on July 14, 2017. It's ten discs, including all eight of her solo studio albums from the past three decades; Butterfly, a new studio set featuring new songs and reinterpreted selections from her catalog, arranged for string quartet; and Rarities, a collection of rare and previously unreleased tracks. The package includes a 100-page lyric book and pictorial history of her solo career. Pre-orders include an instant download of the new recording of "Frozen Charlotte" from the Butterfly disc and an exclusive, limited-edition print autographed by Merchant.

Bach Trios, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, is now available in a two-LP vinyl edition, following its recent release on CD and digitally. The Times (UK) calls it "irresistible." The Observer says the musicians are "in perfect harmony." Herald Scotland exclaims: "A new classic ...Truly, virtuosity is its own reward." The trio begins a nine-city US tour at Boston's Symphony Hall tonight.

Bach Trios, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, is out now on CD and digitally, with the two-LP vinyl edition due April 21. The album comprises works by J.S. Bach originally written for keyboard instruments, plus one sonata for viola da gamba. In 2011, Ma, Thile, and Meyer—along with Stuart Duncan—collaborated on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which won two Grammy Awards. The Times of London calls Bach Trios "effervescent" and "irresistible." The trio performs in nine cities across the US beginning April 21.

When Nonesuch Records celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014, with festivals at the Barbican in London and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Kronos Quartet joined forces with labelmates Sam Amidon, Olivia Chaney, Rhiannon Giddens, and Natalie Merchant to perform a concert entitled Folk Songs. The group later recorded the songs, most of which are traditional with contemporary arrangements, with Doug Petty as producer. Folk Songs will be released June 9, 2017, and is available to pre-order with an instant download of the track "The Butcher's Boy," featuring Merchant.

Pianist Tigran Hamasyan's second Nonesuch album, An Ancient Observer, is out now. It includes ten new compositions, two of which are based on Armenian melodies. Some are through-composed and completely written out, while others are composed with ample space for Hamasyan to improvise. He cites a wide range of influences—from Baroque dance to hip-hop grooves adapted to piano—and the sounds of his native country of Armenia are present, as always. DownBeat exclaims: "It's simply breathtaking." The Huffington Post calls Hamasyan "one of jazz's most dynamic artists" and the new album "outstanding."

Dan Auerbach will release Waiting on a Song, his second solo album, on June 2, via his new label, Easy Eye Sound. The album is Auerbach's much anticipated follow-up to 2009's Keep It Hid and is a love letter to Nashville. As such, he recruited some of Nashville's most respected players to write and record his latest, including John Prine, Duane Eddy, Jerry Douglas, Pat McLaughlin, and Bobby Wood and Gene Chrisman of the Memphis Boys. Auerbach said about working with his musical heroes: "Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn't have all of these resources before. Sam Amidon's new album, The Following Mountain, will be released May 26, 2017, on Nonesuch. The album represents a new approach for Amidon, who shifts here from his previous norm of re-working traditional folk songs and presents nine wholly original compositions, with some lyrics drawing on traditional sources. The Following Mountain was created with producer Leo Abrahams and frequent Amidon collaborator Shahzad Ismaily, with a rare guest appearance by drummer Milford Graves. Conor Oberst's new album, Salutations, is out now. The album, a companion to 2016's lauded Ruminations, comprises full-band versions of the ten tunes from that solo album plus seven additional songs. Salutations was recorded with The Felice Brothers, legendary drummer Jim Keltner, who co-produced the album, and special guests. "The results are quite simply sublime," says Sunday Express. "This is songwriting of the very highest quality, Oberst’s lyrics rarely less than astonishing. Wonderful." It "works exceedingly well," raves Q.
