    Soul and blues singer Robert Finley will release his second studio album, Goin’ Platinum!, December 8, 2017, via Dan Auerbach's label, Easy Eye Sound, which is distributed by Nonesuch Records. "He's the greatest living soul singer as far as I'm concerned," says Auerbach. Finley is surrounded by all-time-great session musicians with skill to match his singular voice, including drummer Gene Chrisman (Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin), keys player Bobby Woods (JJ Cale, Bobby Womack), horns players from Preservation Hall, and legendary guitarist Duane Eddy. Goin’ Platinum! was co-written and produced by Auerbach and also features writing credits by legendary songwriters John Prine, Nick Lowe, and Pat McLaughlin.

    Half-Light, the debut album from Rostam, known for his work in Vampire Weekend, is out now. NPR calls it "stunning ... one of the year's most arresting albums." The New Yorker says it's "a wondrous album, full of coy dreams and quiet yearning." The Daily Beast calls it "a sublime collection of baroque pop ... one of the more extraordinary records of the year." Interview says: "It's joyous and catchy, intimate and spacious, and, like its creator, exists in a musical world all its own." Rolling Stone gives it four stars. Rostam performs at Easy Street Records in Seattle on Monday and at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 27; he will tour Europe in November.

    Nonesuch releases Louis Andriessen's stagework Theatre of the World—recorded live during the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2016 world premiere performances with conductor Reinbert de Leeuw and director Pierre Audi—on September 29, 2017. The nine-scene multimedia work, which features a libretto by Helmut Krausser, is a far-ranging exploration of the German Jesuit scholar Athanasius Kircher (1601–1680). The Los Angeles Times says: "Brilliant and deep, Andriessen's music compels from start to finish."

    Robert Plant's eleventh studio album, Carry Fire, will be released by Nonesuch/Warner Bros. Records on October 13, 2017. The album, produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, melds unusual rhythms with naturalism. As with his 2014 album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, the album features his band The Sensational Space Shifters. They are also joined here by special guests, including Chrissie Hynde. Nonesuch Store pre-orders include an exclusive print and an instant download of the album's opening track, "The May Queen."

    Dark Matter, Randy Newman's first album of new material in nine years, is now available on vinyl, following its recent CD and digital release. Produced by long-time Newman collaborators Mitchell Froom, Lenny Waronker, and David Boucher, the album includes songs about Vladimir Putin, the Kennedy brothers, Sonny Boy Williamson, science vs. religion, love and loss, and more. Randy Newman "remains first and foremost a craftsman of song, capable of telling ordinary stories in ways no one quite has before," says NPR. Newman is "still at the top of his game," says the AP. He "just gets better," says ABC News. "Dark Matter is the work of a master craftsman ... frankly brilliant."

    k.d. lang's Ingénue: 25th Anniversary Edition is now available on vinyl, following its recent release on CD and digitally. The new two-LP set, celebrating the double platinum-selling, Grammy-winning album's silver anniversary, includes remastered versions of the album's original ten tracks, including its huge hit, "Constant Craving," along with eight previously unreleased performances from lang's 1993 MTV Unplugged episode, recorded in NYC's famed Ed Sullivan Theater. Additionally, lang marks the anniversary with the Ingénue Redux Tour, currently making its way across her home country of Canada.

    Nonesuch releases French singer/composer Camille's new album, OUÏ, in the US on October 13, 2017. Recorded over the course of a year in La Chartreuse—a fourteenth-century monastery-turned-artist’s residence in Avignon, France—OUÏ was released internationally earlier this year to critical and popular acclaim. Debuting at #1 in the French charts, the album was called "a celebration of a vocal instrument as dexterous as it is delicate, with sounds given new shapes and word play at a premium" by the UK’s Evening Standard. Mostly sung in French, the album also includes one song in English, "Seeds." That track and "Fontaine de Lait," the video for which can be seen here, are available to download now with album pre-orders. Camille performs at NYC's (Le) Poisson Rouge on October 16.

    The Queen of Hearts, the debut album from Offa Rex, a new project from Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists, is out now. Produced and recorded by Tucker Martine and Colin Meloy at Martine's studio in Portland, OR, and mostly arranged by Chaney, The Queen of Hearts draws largely on traditional English-Irish-Scottish repertoire to create a transatlantic musical conversation that flirts with psychedelia and folk rock while maintaining its own inimitable identity. NPR calls it "a match made in folk-rock heaven." Offa Rex will tour this summer, including performances at the Newport Folk Festival, Town Hall in New York, and at The Aladdin in Portland.

    The Natalie Merchant Collection—a deluxe ten-CD box set compiled by Merchant—is out now. It's ten discs, including all eight of her solo studio albums from the past three decades; Butterfly, a new studio set featuring new songs and reinterpreted selections from her catalog, arranged for string quartet; and Rarities, a collection of rare and previously unreleased tracks. The package includes a 100-page lyric book and pictorial history of her solo career. Mojo gives the set five stars, calling it “magnificent ... a definitive and absorbing celebration of an artist with a singular voice and vision.”

    Crack-Up, Fleet Foxes' long-awaited and highly anticipated third album, is out now. "Rewarding, involving, and meticulous," says the AP, "Crack-Up has been well worth the wait." "Likely to be the most remarkable album you will hear this year," exclaims the Times (UK). "The return of one of the most original bands of this century." Pitchfork calls it "their most complex and compelling album to date." Capping off an eventful week that included a taping of PBS's Live from the Artists Den—you can watch "Third of May / Ōdaigahara" from the taping here—Fleet Foxes performs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight and on CBS This Morning on Saturday. The band will tour for much of the year, including two just-announced UK dates.

His kaleidoscopic debut album features fifteen songs that were written, produced, and performed by Rostam in his Los Angeles home studio. Half-Light is available to pre-order now with an instant download of the album tracks "Gwan" and "Bike Dream." Nonesuch Store pre-orders also include an exclusive print, a limited number of which will be signed by the artist. Tour dates are still to be announced.
