Ry Cooder will appear on New York public radio station WFUV, 90.7 FM, on Thursday to premiere his latest effort, "Quicksand," a new song he wrote in response to Arizona's recent immigration law, SB 1070. The track will be available exclusively on iTunes beginning June 29, with all proceeds going to support MALDEF, the Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund.

To mark the occasion, The Black Keys pop-up store has launched at New York's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, where the band will perform tomorrow night, May 19, with proceeds going to support Housing Works' advocate for New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS. Today also marks the premiere of the official "Tighten Up" video.

A ten-year labor of love from director Luca Guadagnino and actress Tilda Swinton, I Am Love was directed and produced with Adams's music in mind. The Times of London, in a five-star film review, notes its "sublime score." The film opens in the US on June 18.

In a Nonesuch Store exclusive, the first 250 orders of Homeland include a limited-edition 12" vinyl single of the album track "Only an Expert," signed by Anderson. She recently spoke with the BBC World Service program The Strand, which calls her "one of the great artistic experimenters."

The single is now available here in the Nonesuch Store. On Side A is the Danger Mouse-produced "Tighten Up," which Rolling Stone gives four stars, saying the band has "never sounded tighter or funkier." On the flip side is "Howlin' for You," with backing vocals by Blakroc's Nicole Wray.

A special deluxe edition includes a four-song instrumental EP and a seven-song DVD filmed during the band’s residency at NYC’s The Living Room. Pre-orders of both the standard and deluxe editions are available now; the first 250 orders of the deluxe include an official Punch Brothers' cocktail recipe guide, signed by the band.

It was featured on NPR's Morning Edition, and Merchant performed songs from it on ABC's Good Morning America. The BBC says that the album's many musical styles are unified by the "sheer ravishing beauty of the arrangements, combined with the tasteful, organic aesthetic." The Irish Times gives it a perfect five stars, saying Merchant "has delivered something special."

The album is "pure Afrobeat," says the Boston Globe, "the liquid grooves, the conscious themes, the horn arrangements, and Allen’s complicated drumming." Slant gives four-and-a-half stars to this "vital, insistently probing work," calling it "joyful, colorful, uplifting music [that] finds the best in all its influences, leaving us with a daring assemblage of styles that's impossible to adequately define."

The Fader predicts that the soon-to-be-released album is "gonna be a killer at the BBQs this summer."

Byrne discussed the project on the BBC World Service program The Strand, which calls it "wonderful"; it was also Album of the Day on BBC Radio 6 Music. Newsday gives the album an A-, calling it "an amazing piece of work" and "a thrilling success." The AP describes the album as "a magnificent sonic treat ... an epic, thrilling tale brimming with hair-raising harmonies, sumptuous beats and unexpected duets." It receives four stars from the Daily Mirror and Daily Express, which calls it "excitingly original."
