Vagabon (aka Lætitia Tamko) has released two alternate versions of songs from her self-titled album: "In A Bind (Strings Version)" and "Wits About You (Saxophone Version)." A video for the former, directed by Maegan Houang, also debuts today and can be seen here. She leads a headline tour then joins Brittany Howard on tour this spring.

The Black Keys will release a new limited-edition, 45-RPM version of their album "Let’s Rock" on Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores, on Saturday, April 18. Pressed on two 180-gram vinyl discs, the Record Store Day edition comes in a deluxe holographic gatefold jacket, individually numbered. The set is limited to 7,500 pieces worldwide. The Magnetic Fields’ Quickies will be released on Nonesuch on May 29, 2020. The five 7" vinyl box set features twenty-eight new short songs by Stephin Merritt, ranging in length from thirteen seconds to two minutes and thirty-five seconds. Preorder in the Nonesuch Store to download "The Day the Politicians Died" (the video for which can be seen here) now and get an exclusive, limited-edition print autographed by Merritt.

Sam Phillips's critically acclaimed 2001 Nonesuch debut album, Fan Dance, is now available on vinyl, as a fan-selected title on Run Out Groove. Remastered and pressed on 180-gram vinyl, the LP comes in an old-school tip-on style jacket with booklet, limited and individually numbered. The Boston Globe calls it "a stunning work of intimacy and emotional range."

Caroline Shaw’s album Orange, for which Attacca Quartet earned a Grammy Award, is due on vinyl for the first time on July 24, 2020, via New Amsterdam and Nonesuch Records. The two-LP set is pressed on double 180-gram orange vinyl and includes a printed excerpt from the score and is available to pre-order now. "Completely gorgeous in so many ways," exclaims BBC Radio 3. "It hits you everywhere, all at once." "A love letter to the string quartet," says NPR. "[W]hen you hear all the imaginative sounds on Orange, you know you're listening to the voice of a strong composer."

Daughter of Swords (aka Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig) follows up her 2019 debut album, Dawnbreaker, with a new digital single, “Prairie Winter Wasteland,” out now. The Jeff Tweedy–produced track, recorded at his Chicago studio The Loft, “is a reflection on the way our emotional experiences of place are shaped in powerful and mystical ways by the people we’ve know there,” she says. Tweedy, who invited Daughter of Swords on tour with Wilco last year, joins her on a variety of instruments, with his son Spencer on drums and Nick Macri on bass. Daughter of Swords begins a full-band US tour this weekend.

Congratulations to Jeff Parker, whose new album, Suite for Max Brown, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Current Contemporary Jazz Chart and at No. 2 on the Contemporary Jazz Chart in the US. The album was released on January 24 via a newly formed partnership between International Anthem and Nonesuch Records. "It lives at the vanguard of new jazz music," says Pitchfork. The Los Angeles Times calls it "a transcendent set of pieces that occupy a vague terrain lit by jazz, experimental electronic music, instrumental hip-hop and genre-jumping avant-rock." Jeff Parker will tour the US in March, with shows in Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Philadelphia, NYC, Miami, and Knoxville's Big Ears Festival.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Parker's Suite for Max Brown is out now via a newly formed partnership between International Anthem and Nonesuch Records. The album, named for and dedicated to Parker's mother, features nine original songs as well as "Gnarciss," an interpretation of Joe Henderson's "Black Narcissus," and John Coltrane's "After the Rain." Parker plays the majority of the instruments on the record. "The veteran guitarist has created an effortlessly detailed album, full of tradition and experimentation that spans generations," says Pitchfork. "It lives at the vanguard of new jazz music."

The original cast recording for Dave Malloy's musical Octet—recorded live during Signature Theatre's world premiere production—is now available on CD, following its digital release late last year. Featuring a score for an a cappella chamber choir and an original libretto inspired by internet comment boards, scientific debates, religious texts, and Sufi poetry, Octet explores addiction and nihilism within the messy context of twenty-first century technology. "The most original and topical musical of the year," says the New York Times; "the sublime a cappella chamber opera is a portrait in song of perhaps the greatest David and Goliath struggle of our time."

Sam Gendel’s Nonesuch Records debut, Satin Doll, will be released March 13. Recorded in Gendel’s native California, Satin Doll is a futuristic homage to historical jazz. The album features three musicians—Gendel on saxophone, Gabe Noel on electric bass, and Philippe Melanson on electronic percussion—engaging in simultaneous synchronized sonic construction/deconstruction of jazz standards, including songs by Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, and Duke Ellington. Pat Metheny has released “You Are,” a new track from his forthcoming album, From This Place, due February 21 on Nonesuch; it can be heard here. This follows the release of the album tracks “America Undefined” and "You Are." All three songs can be downloaded now with pre-orders of From This Place on vinyl and CD in the Pat Metheny Store and Nonesuch Store, and are available to stream.
