Steve Reich's Pulse / Quartet, released on CD and digitally in February, is now available on vinyl as well. Pulse is performed by International Contemporary Ensemble, and Quartet by Colin Currie Group. The Los Angeles Times notes the "lyricism, gorgeous instrumental textures and affecting harmonies" of Pulse, and the New York Times says: "Written for two vibraphones and two pianos, Quartet is Mr. Reich's first piece for those two instruments alone, and the combination is ingenious and seductive, and deployed with subtle craftsmanship."

Brad Mehldau Trio's Seymour Reads the Constitution! is due May 18, 2018, on Nonesuch. The pianist and his longtime trio perform three Mehldau originals plus interpretations of pop songs (Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson), jazz tunes (Elmo Hope, Sam Rivers), and one work from the American songbook (Frederick Loewe's "Almost Like Being in Love"). Congratulations to David Byrne, whose album American Utopia debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest of his career. The album also topped both the Rock and Alternative Album Charts. American Utopia has also debuted at No. 1 on the Canadian Album and Alternative charts, another career high. There are more career chart highs across Europe, where the album premiered in the Top 20 in the UK and Ireland, and Top 40 in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands.

Joshua Redman is joined by drummer Brian Blade, bassist Scott Colley, and trumpeter Ron Miles for Still Dreaming—an album inspired by his father Dewey Redman's 1976–1987 band, Old and New Dreams—due May 25. That band featured an all-star lineup of Ornette Coleman collaborators: Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell. Still Dreaming features six new compositions by the new band plus one tune by Haden and one by Coleman. The album is available to preorder with an instant download of the album track "Unanimity."

David Byrne's new solo record, American Utopia, is out now. "American Utopia is an album full of pulsating beats and rich textures," says Stereogum. Brad Mehldau's new album, After Bach is out now. The album comprises the pianist/composer's recordings of selections from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, each followed by an After Bach piece written by Mehldau and inspired by its WTC mate. After Bach is the Guardian's Contemporary Album of the Month.

Fleet Foxes will release a limited-edition vinyl 7" single on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 21: the title track to their 2017 album, Crack-Up, made during the Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavik with the women's choir Graduale Nobili, b/w a live take on the song "In the Morning," made at last summer's Montreux Jazz Festival.

David Bryne's new album, American Utopia, out next Friday, March 9, is streaming in full till then as an NPR First Listen. "The music is intense, it's playful and quite memorable," says NPR Music's Bob Boilen. Lake Street Dive will release Free Yourself Up, its second album with Nonesuch Records, on May 4. In many ways, this is the band's most intimate and collaborative record. The band worked as a tightly knit unit to craft the ten songs on Free Yourself Up and self-produced the album in Nashville with engineer Dan Knobler. The Staves have released a digital EP of six songs recorded live at Pine Hollow studios in Eau Claire, WI, aptly titled Pine Hollow. The EP opens with the trio's take on Sufjan Stevens' "Chicago," Ray Lamontagne's "Jolene," and Dino Valenti's "Something's on Your Mind." Those are followed by new versions of the group's own songs "Sadness Don't Own Me," "Let Me Down," and "Trouble on My Mind." The Staves are now on tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Nonesuch releases a new recording of John Adams's Grawemeyer Award–winning Violin Concerto on April 27, with his frequent collaborators violinist Leila Josefowicz, conductor David Robertson, and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The album was recorded at Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis in 2016. The piece "mingles virtuoso show with soul," says the Boston Globe. Pre-order to download the third movement, "Toccare," now.

Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet’s Landfall is out now. Inspired by her experience of Hurricane Sandy, Landfall is the first collaboration between the iconic storyteller/musician and the groundbreaking string quartet, who perform together on the recording. Landfall juxtaposes lush electronics and traditional strings by Kronos with Anderson's powerful descriptions of loss, from water-logged pianos to disappearing animal species to Dutch karaoke bars. The Washington Post calls it "riveting, gorgeous."
